So I'm in the UK and am looking for an AG monitor. My first observation is that there isn't a lot to choose from.

My first choice is an NEC/Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 93SB 19". I can't find one of these in stock(except from one possibly dodgy retailer).

The Lacie sounds OK but it's Blue. The monitor will be in a downstairs room. My wife doesn't like the sound/sight of a blue monitor :(

So I find a Philips Brillance 19" display. Does anyone have experience of Philips Displays.

A couple of general questions.

My PC (soon to be replaced) is 5 years old. Is a new monitor likely to have problems with my PC.

I've read about two horizontal lines on the screen of an Aperture grill monitor. How much of an irritation are these to the viewer.

Any advice would be appreciated..... TIA David...

I stopped noticing the barely visible lines after a bout a week..

Compared to Shadow mask .. the image quality is a magnitude of 5-10X better,. so a pair of lines is well worth the upgrade.

The philips monitors i have seen have been very good,.

As far as compatibility with your old PS,. do you know what the graphics card is.

I've had the Diamond Plus 93SB 19" for 12 months now and I'm very happy with it. The two lines did bother me at first, but after a while you don't see them. Having previously had a TFT monitor, it took me some time to get the CRT distortion calibrated, ie. to make a square look exactly like a square, wherever it is on the screen, but all the controls are there so it just takes some time to get exactly right.
This monitor also seems to maintain its colorimetric calibration reasonably well, although it did change a little after six months.

Does anyone know how I can find out if my Graphics card "Intel(R) 82810 Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation)" would be compatible with the Philips Brilliance 109P40 monitor (see link below).
