That's why I've been trying hard to get out and catch some sunsets lately. Luckily I'm allowed to take my 70-200 into Randwick so I can not only have a boozey afternoon at the races, but give my camera some action too.

Plan a shoot for after school?

i have one on Friday, in an abandon building near school, really dark with little light, even during the day.

Will be great for my flashes and long exposures.

It also involves a lion costume.

I also got another shoot Saturday night for a charity dinner for the kahalari experience.

Big weekend, with finally some good shoots :D

A couple of my mates want me to go down to their footy (Saturday morning) and basketball (Saturday night). I might go to the footy but I'm not sure about the basketball even though I'd love to try it out.

For my media class, we've had an assignment going for the last month. Individual assignment where you can choose a few things from photography or a magazine to a movie. Handing the first planning part in next week and then we get another few weeks to actually work on it. I'm looking forward to it because I've chosen something interesting... popping water balloons :D And my teacher knows I'm actually into photography and not just doing it for this assignment so he's basically told me I'm already set for an A+.

My media teacher found out that i am into photography, so he has been on to me ever since. Its not pretty when you get the whole class bagging him because he doesnt know what he's doing, plus he's an ex-cop so hes big and scary

My media teacher is more into designing things (yearbooks and brochures for the school, simple things really) but he knows a little bit about photography. Although he seems to think megapixels are great :p

Edit: Which reminds me, I need to email another teacher/photographer and ask him what's going on for next week. Apparently I'm promo shooting for the school but he didn't give me any details. Just said bring your gear on Thursday.

Urgh, first day of production of a show I am visual operator for...
the designer rendered a whole bunch of the sequences as videos, and keynote played them fine the last 10 times I checked them in rehersals and the 2 times I OCD checked them before the show, he decides to switch some out at the last minute, I update the backup machine (schools mac pro, a bit suss ever since IT touched it) and show starts before I can test the new one, on the primary(my laptop) first cue comes up, and it is pretty much the intro to the whole thing, and one of the ones that the actors interact with, press the forward on primary and backup at once, backup doesn't go, oh well the primary should work.... well no, it doesn't play the friggin video, just black, so then I frantically try to fix the backup, and turns out the keyboard isn't being detected on the computer (keyboard is fine, computer is just ignoring) so switch to the backup, and use the mouse, oh well I'll try and fix mine and have it as backup and the other as primary, re open keynote on mine and hope for the best, not wanting to test it infront of the audience, then halfway through, the backup starts glitching the presenter screen badly (lines showing up changing colours and positions) then starts glitching with flashing white/red/green/blue lines the output, aw ****, decide better off with just no videos and black then a screen that is tripping out, switch back to my laptop, and thank god it isn't black and is the right cue.... only one major stuff up :| tomorrow I will bring in my old mac mini as a backup to the backup (since it can't be trusted anymore....)

That happened to me the last time I flew to Brisbane some years ago, only it was storms and flooding, not fog. My 10.45am flight out of Newcastle finally lifted off the tarmac at about 7pm. That was a long day.

Both Somerset and Wivenhoe have flood storage capacity as they were designed to mitigate floods like we had in 1974. Wivenhoe was built after '74 floods.

Adam...I agree with Josh...skip the flash for a newborn.
Natural window light is your best friend with newborns....just don't place them too close to the window or the light will be too harsh. Place the baby on a 45 degree angle to the window so the light isn't too flat.
If you can, do the shoot before the baby is 2 weeks old, after that they start to get their hormonal pimples and get colicky.
Best of luck...I love newborns!

I reckon. It used to be that some photographers would do a little gold seal on the photo, but that seems to have died a long time ago, which I think is good.

Stamp the back, though.

Not sure what you mean by gold seal. I don't have a stamp, and it'll be sent directly from the printer to the customer anyway.

stamp the back or something.

If a friend or family member see's the print and asks who took it, they can pull it down and check it out, otherwise they might forget who you are.

Stamp the back, though.

Yep!

If you use a pro-print lab, they'll usually put your copyright details on the back of the print for you, and mark it not for reproduction.

As posted in the Victoria/Melbourne POTN thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=7967810&postcount=958) I'm still working on the details of next month's meeting but we're looking at June 14th for a late afternoon meeting. Placing will be limited to 5 spots (Michael is a special guest)as it's going to be a focus on motorsports shooting for a mate of mine...he's a stunt rider. ;)

The meeting will be in Dandenong.

I'll let you know when you can start submitting interest.

Thanks for the tip Hayley, Saw my new niece Sophie yesterday. drove an hour and a half in the rain to get to Westmead to see her, then on the way back home, my Pajero boiled over at traffic lights in Liverpool, stuck, no help to push me out of the busy intersection, rang NRMA who said they would send an urgent tow truck for safety, it turned up 55 minutes later, now its 4 pm on a Friday afternoon, rather than waiting for the NRMA mechanic to arrive( which could be another 2-3 hours), I had the towie drop me off at the local Mitsubishi dealer...turns out to be the water pump, not a radiator hose like i expected. So after leaving the hospital I finally arrived home 6 hours later after walking, and catching 4 trains! Now I need to get back to Liverpool to pick up the Paj when they get around to replacing the hard to get to water pump some time next week! Girls are so much trouble, if only my sister had a boy, none of this would have happened, or if it did I would have broken down outside a pub!

:-)
They look somewhat underexposed and a bit washed out over here, but that might be the MBP screen.

Cheers, and lucky with the Angus Report on the 16-351

Some photos from my recent trip to Coonabarabran.

This remarkably intact stained glass window was at a place called Capertee on the Mudgee line. The station itself was in pretty good condition considering it isn't used for anything. Mind you, the ladies toilet looked like the aftermath of a police raid.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3564/3556597712_ceeab4ac20.jpg

Kandos station - the end of the usable section of the Mudgee line. No trains have traveled beyond here for a few years even though the entire line was rehabilitated to run tourist trains.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2460/3555807423_58f700cc48.jpg

At Mudgee itself, the old signaling frame on the platform is fenced off for tourists to look at - there aren't any signs explaining what the levers mean though. Red levers operate signals, black levers operate points, blue levers operate locking bars on the points and if there are white levers, they are spares for future use.
