Yeah that's true. Then again I've got some focusing issues with the 70-200, I swear it's got issues. I'm going to bring it into Canon when I can be bothered... one day...

haha Well timed ;-)
So did this result in a visit from the bouncers ?
Hell no, it's all good. They were laughing and smiling about it, and I was sitting next to a mutual friend who introduced me after her set. She's keen to see my photos. :)

I feel your pain. I had to do most of my shooting yesterday at ISO800 - and even 800 sucks on the 400D.

In other news, having both a Mac and Windows environment is a pain in the arse. I have a bunch of files originally from HFS+ mirrored onto an NTFS. Works perfectly (read/write/run) but I can't copy them onto another NTFS drive but they will onto another HFS+. Always technology related headaches before exams.

I have finally figured the issue at hand regarding my data... the errors is the result of corrupted files -_-. Some of my .CR2 files have gone super pixelated or are missing bits and pieces (greyed out) O_O. I think this is due to a program I used to extract data from my HFS+ drive. I therefore condemn HFSExplorer. You have been warned now :)

Yea, the things is... the files I extracted from my HFS+ drive to an NTFS drive was... hmmm my backup? :( Luckily most of my .CR2 files have been unaffected but a bunch of multi-gig files have gone kaput. I've been sifting through each folder for corrupted files. Hard labor for the hands.
I'm hoping my new samsung drive doesn't end up being the root cause of all of this.

Oh no :(
That sucks, I currently have one backup of every file, with an internal 2008 drive and an external one same for 2009, all are HFS+, and I just don't use them with windows and only use them for photos (which for me is only done on mac)... That seems to work, I still need to add another drive for 09 to keep offsite with the 08 external, then I should be safe mainly...
I remember LR crapping itself and deleting half of my photos from this year and I backed that up before noticing half of them were gone, luckily DataRescue came to the rescue :)

I generally don't use them, cause they hurt my shoulders, but this seems ok.
I can fit in it: the 1DIII with 24-70 attached, the 17-40L with the hood off, the 85 1.8 with hood on backwards, the 70-200 with hood off and the 430EX. Plus heaps of other small things. Hoods all fit stacked on top of 85 1.8... Highly impressed!
Also, I would take the Peli, but we're going without check in bags, so it's carry on only, which is why I got the Crumpler...

And finally before I head off, I shot JPEG for the first time in ever on saturday, and the only thing I noticed between the RAWs and the JPEGs (shooting some in RAW some JPEG) is the RAWs needed more PP (this is for sport though, so not much PP was needed in the first place...) and the filesize...

Mine's black and green too. I've walked around with it for a good 3 or so hours filled up, it wasn't too bad, just had to swap shoulders a couple of times.
As for filling it up, it's huge on the inside! I can also get my 15" laptop in there with my camera and a couple of lenses.

Sorry Phil but "Meh".
What was the reason for the shoot as there are a lot of distractions and noise?
(And not to mention it looks pretty tight in there!)
Ps. It's all good Al, I wont get uppety with C&C.
Reason for the shot is for sale of it. I can't move it anywhere else, it's on the stage at the Club. It's a very tight fit. I can't take away the overhead lights or anything either.
Shot at ISO800, so on the 400D, it's about right.

The poor right side is better than the poor left side. The keys are also yellow. I can't use a longer lens either, the stage isn't long enough and there's more tables and **** which were about where I was standing too.
I never said I was shooting a nice piano. :p

Yeah, I'd be much more inclined to get up high and shoot down into it - show off the strings, exaggerate the lid, etc.

Ahhh. So if there's no way to get back a bit and flatten that sucker I'd bounce from left and try to light the keys and front more and allow ambient or a reflector to light the right side.
Front looks good but the side lets it down for sales....it's a bit 'harsh'.

I see what you mean about that side panel. I don't think there's much I can do though as the wall is only 1.5 metres off to the side. Having no diffuser hasn't helped, maybe I should've dialled it down a little.
Damn it, didn't think about bouncing off the side walls. :(

Nice shots Mark!
I've decided I'm not taking the 70-200 to Melbourne, cause I won't use it...
Thanks
And good idea, I took the 70-200 to the UK to use it once, I wish I didn't take it, but know that if I didn't one of the places we stayed at (we still hadn't book all of it when we got there) would have to be right under a low fly flightpath (we wound up damn near one, and got buzzed by a harrier when we got lost and pulled over for a while )
I want to see some benchmarks on these babies (iPhone 3GS) to test the claims of "improved speeds".
The weird news is the 13' MB is now dubbed as the MBP. Hmph, I feel ripped off now. XD
Gah I am really starting to get annoyed at apple's hardware!
First they take away the standard DVI port, now the ExpressCard!?! Why not just include SD card readers if that is what they really want! And the glossy screens with no choice for matte (unless they changed that)
I'm still very happy I bought this older one when I did (and specced it out to last as long as possible!) :)
Has anyone had to light a piano before? Any tips would be great.
2 Flashes, however no umbrellas. or diffusers. :(
Bounce off big white things (sheets maybe)?
For anyone that wants to know/cares.
The iPhone 3GS is going to be released on the 26 June.
and for anyone who already owns an iPhone, OS3 is going to be released on the 17th June.
I am still happy with my good old sony ericsson one that seems to never break :p (mainly because it doesn't want to break :p)
The 32Gb storage is definitely a winner. Pity no iTouch upgrades though.
29USD upgrade to 10.6, not bad for an OS with GPC/OpenCL Is it me or am I the only one who thinks OSX needs a face lift?
Why would it? I am very happy with it the way I have it for me..
Yeah, I'd be much more inclined to get up high and shoot down into it - show off the strings, exaggerate the lid, etc.

I think I will be shooting JPEG for sport much more now...
Well, of course. All JPG files, from any camera, have some processing applied to them at the time they're written to the card. The whole point (well, most of the point) of shooting RAW is that you're choosing not to have this processing done for you.
Does anyone have a Logitech Harmony universal remote? I bought a Harmony One in the hopes my mum will *finally* stop asking me how to change the volume or why the TV isn't working, after two years...

They're bringing in the same system as Victoria has. For each subject (unit 3/4, that is) you obtain a study score out of 50. You take your four best subjects and add them together. If you have five or six completed 3/4 units, 10% of the the fifth and sixth best will be added to the other four. That is then divided by 200 or something specific like that and you get your ENTER score. It's mathematically impossible to get higher than a 99.95 because of the way it's calculated, therefore 99.95 is technically 100%.

Well, some tax from me. On Monday, I located one of my holy grails - Ropes Creek Railway station on the closed Ropes Creek branch line in the Western suburbs of Sydney. All the photos I took had to be done quickly since I was actually trespassing on the property so they aren't the best.
I actually got into the station area because the wire fence had already been partially pulled down to the right of the warning sign.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3375/3613138086_a835a67cef.jpg
The signal box part of the station held this little? gem, mostly intact.
