It's only $90 dearer from D-D here in Aust. and you'd have had it weeks ago if you'd ordered locally. I just don't see the point ordering from O/S for a saving of less and $100 on a once-off.
DDP wants $883.00 that's $180.00 more isn't it ?
Any way plan has been foiled i have outsmarted my self yet again
To explain...Two days ago i emailed Adorama asking if they had an ETA on their back ordered stock of 100mm F2.8 Macros and they did not reply unitl this morning they emailed me an advertisement for the lens in question and being my gullible self i assumed this meant they had some...I was wrong an hour later i got an email saying this is a back order...
Too smart by half i would say..

Call up DD for the most up to date prices.
Most of the time the phone price is lower than the web price ;)

.....Where else could i get a bag that can carry lightstands and umbrella's from?
Image melbourne had one for $30 so i was just going to get that. Price is cheap enough.I brought my backdrop stand from I/M and I'm pretty happy with the bag it cam in. IIRC, they saw on one of their adverts for bags that they were selling that they were the same as what they used on my backdrop.
If that's so, it's a pretty good bag.......
I use this softbox
http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod6209.htm
That looks very much the EBay special I brought, IIRC about $100, free shipping AND hat included the stand (to be fair, it's a bit of a light-weight stand, but more then adequate for the job).

I ordered that bag a day ago so looking forward to seeing it.
As for my lighting gear, i got the tracking number tuesday morning, and it is already in australia. Could not be happier with the shipping, service was still dissapointing though.

Considering the 1.3x crop factor of the 1D... super-ultra-wide

Aparrently it vignettes slightly at the wide end but not too badly.

Meh. I've said this a bunch of times before, and I'll say it again. I have rarely ever found a situation where 2.8 provided enough DoF (deliberately shallow DoF for creative reasons notwithstanding) extra stop or not.

But I'm a bit uninspired... The photos are allowed to be put up for sale so I want to submit photos that not only I will enjoy. Maybe I could try a night landscape or pano? Not sure where but I haven't shot a proper landscape before... :o

Hrmm, i now have evidence that Australia Post don't actually try to deliver parcels. Yesterday at about 3pm i went to the post office to ask why a parcel hadn't arrived, he said it had and that i had been carded at 10am... well no i hadn't as there was no card at 3pm and no card at 6pm when i looked again. Went down at 2:15pm today and there is a card back dated to the 13th....

Similar thing happened to me a while ago...I was sitting the the front room doing some work at the table there when a "Australia Post Contractor" van pulled up in front of the house.
Dude got out of the van, stuck something in the letter box, hopped back in the van and drove off.
I wandered out to the letter-box, and there was a "Sorry we missed you" card there, so I had to go to the Post Office the next day to pick the parcel up !!
Hey, as a contractor, if you're paid by the number of parcels you contract to deliver, you can get a heap more "delivered" if you don't actually worry about walking up a driveway and knocking at the front door !! >:(
Not happy Jan !!!

Happened before to me as well, except with DHL... I had an urgent document delivered to me. DHL postie apparently "attempted to deliver" and rang the doorbell 5 times but no one was there. The door bell was linked to the office's phone system and upon checking, there was no record in the system he even pressed the button.
Called DHL to get him to drive all the way back. His loss for being slack.

In the last week I've been getting some. Well, I haven't witnessed it. But three or four times when I've gone to start it up from hibernate, it actually shut down and it said "Windows has recovered..." etc and it was the BSOD.

Yeah, I did look in there. It was definitely always after I hibernated. It must have turned itself back on and BSOD. Previously with Vista, it used to turn itself back on after I've hibernated but it wouldn't BSOD, it would just run down the battery
I'm a fool... I was looking around everywhere for the battery door/cover of my 400D until I actually took off the BG-E3 and realised that I had forgotten that you actually turn it upside down and put it in there  :o :o :o

That reminded me that the action centre was saying to solve a problem with my power management setup... every time I remembered it, I was at school and couldn't do it because I wasn't connected to the internet. I just clicked it and it's telling me that the Toshiba Supervisor Password Utility has stopped working properly... could that really be the cause? :p Any tips?

Haha yeah! When I first bought the BG-E3, I was looking at it thinking I'm NEVER going to find the cover once I put it somewhere, turns out that with a bit of reading, I learnt how to put it in upside down so you don't lose it  Very smart idea.

Naughty posties!!!
Regularly cards were going into the mail box but posties weren't actually buzzing the unit to deliver parcels. After 2 or 3 calls to Auspost the postie always tries to actually deliver instead of just leaving a card in the box.

The contractor that serves my area always wants to hang around and chat if I happen to be home when a delivery arrives but I trust him to leave any parcels that I don't need to sign for hidden and out of range of any inclement weather.
I received the Yongnuo OC-E3 from The Moose today and the postman just shoved it half in and out of my mail box so anyone who walked by could steal it. I'd have preferred to have been carded.

Here is a bit of a project im working on What you see is a side on view of a PC Tower.
Need to buy the 996Ts first but over the next few months im going to throw it together. Will start with a single 996T then decide if i want another or if i want to mount a 2m/70cm Dual Band Amateur Radio in its place, but at this stage im thinking to go for dual 996Ts at this stage. The PC will be fully functioning with the monitor mounted to the side of the PC tower, i will run a 120gb drive most likely. It will not have a CD/DVD Burner, the monitor will most likely only be used for use with the 996Ts for programming and for scanning related things (IE: Having google maps open to check street addresses on incidents, having "stations.exe" open to check station names and run codes etc) Not sure how i will run speakers yet but either have slimline ones under each scanner or mount them to the back or side of the tower casing, i suppose however that all depends on the size of the case i end up buying...
Already own the monitor, a 15" LG Flatron that has been sitting as my second monitor on my current PC almost unused. The GME TX3440 will not be added right away but rather a much later addition, i am simply allowing the space for it, the priority is the pair of 996Ts in there.
Hopefully there will only be 1 main cord running out of the unit, and that will be for power. Ofcourse there will be a mouse and keyboard but im not counting them as of yet as i may go wireless on them.
The lower mic clip will hold the GME TX3440 on it while the upper one will hold my Uniden 396T by the metal belt clip stud for easy mounting in a visible location.
If anyone has an old PC Tower, Fans, RAM, Motherboard, Harddrive etc they dont want please PM me as im interested. Thanks!

The stock isn't available to the world yet but it is listed on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Australias-Great-Ocean-Road-Sustainable/dp/1905864264/ref=sr_1_42?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250342251&sr=1-42). Only 3 shots and 2 are small, but I am stoked :D:D
Actually, it's 4 pics, I just found another, so 2 big (1/2 page size) and 2 smaller.. :D
I can now quit my day job and retire on the royalty cheques.... :p:p

Hahahah... yes although the soggy jocks made the drive home somewhat unpleasant.
Well contrary to my reply I think that one actually turned out pretty nice. Actually there were a few I thought were pretty darn good. Can't rely on a 3" LCD to really tell these things...
Do you think she'd mind me posting some small size shots?
Oh also... you got any idea why there was a film production mob over at the surf club? On my way back out they were setting up a bunch of cameras and stuff. They had several trucks worth of gear.... ???
Don't worry Mr Dan, soggy jocks happens the first time you do a bikini shoot:oops: As her agency web site is still not up I guess we can throw up a few, of course with her MM 1264129 account to credit her.
The Sea Cliff Bridge was used again, for another car ad, the new Holdens, 6 cylinder 3 litre that can drive from Sydney to Melbourne on the one tank of fuel, ith the ngine shutting down to 3 cylinders when it doesn't need the power of 6.
Shoot today went well, one of the shots will soon be on a billboard in a prominent location on Sydney's Eastern Beaches...
Pics or Ban when its up!
I have an old tower Angus, but its at Coalcliff!

Yee haa!
IMHO taggers should have their fingers broken, and graffiti has no place outside of boring industrial areas.

I'd also shove their spray cans up one of their orifices that should normally be used as an exit only.

WOAH, WOAH, WOAH! One side? This puppy's oldschool. When you take it off, it's THREE sides! I'll get back with the dimensions.
