I'll post some of the sports photos by the end of the week - should have everything done by then and know which are worthy of showing off here.

Just thanks the banks you can't get a credit card... :p

OMG if I had a credit card, I'd be paying it off as if it's my mortgage. I wouldn't have gone all out though. I'd skip the 400/2.8 and settle for a 1D3 + 5D2 combo with many lenses ranging from, oh I don't know, 16-600?

Angus moved to Geelong?!

Heh... I think I'm worse actually. :p

I love to have the newest things too but as a 17 year old working casual shifts, it's impossible  That's pretty cool. If you don't mind me asking, how old be you?

I be 34. And I bought my first camera about 4 years ago.

It's not really that cool mate. It's nice to be able to do it, of course you have to sacrifice things to be able to do it though. So yeah, it's nice, but I wouldn't say it's cool.

Yeah, that's true. It's always good to build your own house or do it up how you want. My parents have always had a dream of extending our house (it would be great) but I don't think they'll do it anymore. My older sister's already moved out and as good as a larger lounge room as well as a proper study or rumpus room sounds, it's just not worth it.

Ps. Don't worry, they usually give you a pretty low limit to start with. :p

You just ruined my day :( Haha. I'd love to not have a credit card even when I'm able to get one. Not only to stop me from buying new gear, but just to try and keep me in a good position rather than trying to pay off things while living at the same time. Although I can't really comment on anything like that, I'm not even at uni yet!

Damn it would be nice but I can't do it Matt. I said I would get one near Christmas and that's what I've planned for. I had dinner with a mate tonight and planned the finances on the train home and I can't make it stretch and afford what I've planned for the next 6 months.

Damned Ds II and the D3 Nikon are the 2 bodies that I'm really hankering for and it's all to be decided at the end of the year then you come in with this deal! ;)

Now...I must back away from the bank account.

I'd love to pick up another 1Ds2, but my current lineup is good enough for now ;) sorry dude, hope you can find a buyer. Then again, you *were* silly enough to buy all this stuff you're now struggling to sell :p

In other buy/sell news, I have a Ray Flash to sell.

It works on 580EX II's and 20/30/40/50/5D's. Model RAC170-2. I'll take 20% less than the best legit retail price you can point me to, shipped. It's LNIB.

Just saw this on the Canon Rumour site.

New Stuffs
This is some information from a couple of decent known sources about the upcoming 50D replacement. We should expect an announcement in the fall. Canon appears to be holding form on the new 1 year product cycle for the xxD line.

The Goodies

* The 60D will remain at 15.1mp. There will be an upgrade of the current sensor.
* There will be 1080p video at 30fps. Probably no manual control. What I got from this is the 5D2 will get a firmware functionality upgrade and the 60D will basically have what the 5D2 has now.
* We will see a newer AF system introduced.
* The camera will shoot 8fps.
* There will be a external mic jack.
* The camera will be DIGIC V

That’s all I have for now.

I would look very seriously at an upgrade to the 60D with 8fps, and an updated AF system. The video isn't a want for me though...

tangcla
4th of May 2009 (Mon), 20:01
Nah, I think the rumour sounds too good to be true. It's basically making a hybrid xxD with 5D and 1D features... they're targeting the wrong end of the market that way.

With those features, most people would happily forget fullframe 5D2 and get the 60D instead. I mean, fullframe's overrated...

I agree. Maybe they're trying to bring the xxD into what could be a 3d type line...

Not sure. I'm going for the 32bit because I'm not sure the 64bit version will work in a virtual environment...

I did have it downloading and it was cruising along at 1.8MB/second. So when I get it working again I should have it in 25 min or so.

Still not working here, I'll give it a crack at home.

On a related note, any ideas of the best way to sell a six-month-old MBP?
Tell me about what it's got and hope I want it. That's what I'd do. I'm the the market for one.

I'm running it on Parallels. Nearly done installing.

Parallels you say? Is it free and is it easier/safer/better? Just had a quick look at it but I'd never heard of it before.

Running it on a Mac, that's why I'm using it. It's similar to VMWare etc. Just a virtual machine to install it on.

It's around $100 also.

* There will be 1080p video at 30fps.

Thats what I want, except with manual control, no use having it on a DSLR with nice lenses if you cant control it manually.

Not sure. I'm going for the 32bit because I'm not sure the 64bit version will work in a virtual environment...

Pretty sure it contains both versions and installed the 64bit one if it finds 64bit hardware. Or at least that is what it did with dads machine last night.

Even on 64 bit hardware you can't run the 64 bit version in a virtual machine hosted on a 32 bit o/s.

But why?

From the small amount that apple has actually told us and even the rumors and speculation, nothing really seems to be changing from 10.5

Dont see why its being hyped up so much when there is nothing revolutionary or ground breaking. At least microsoft have introduced new things with windows 7, 10.6 just seems to be a slight update to leopard and not worthy of the new name. Guess I will just wait until the official announcements though...

Haven't even thought about the price yet. I was trying to make sure i gave it a good go, which I now have, and I'm not a fan at all. (To be fair, it's the lack of a proper delete key and the lack of decent software I really hate. The rest of the machine isn't too bad.)

Because it works sensibly? Not dumbed-down enough like OS-X?

Heh, ive tried setting osx up like i had my last linux install. Doesnt work...

Will be setting up a myth tv server soon, running it remotely from this thing and will be setting up front end clients on all the other machines in the house. Should work out quite well and really mean i can ditch the TV from my room.

Alright, I need help. Trying to upgrade to the RC build and it's saying to get rid of Nero - Burning ROM before continuing. I didn't even have it installed! I looked in the registry editor and there was a couple of things in there for Nero but no Burning ROM. Uninstalled whatever Nero I had because I don't use it but it hasn't changed anything. I've shut down and restarted a few times too. Anyone? :(

Edit: found something on the Nero site that gets rid of everything. Here we go again...

If I had more time and it wasn't midweek, I probably would have gone for a clean install. I could do that later though, open the RC build ISO file again and clean install, couldn't i?

It's a unibody MBP, 15.4" gloss screen, 2GB RAM, 2.4Ghz DC, 250GB HDD, running that crappy OSX OS, also has VMWare fusion running, 3xMagsafe power adaptors, 2x Mini-DP to VGA adaptor, 1 x Mini-DP to DVI adaptor, 3 year Applecare, a variety of utility progs to make OSX run like a decent OS installed.

Paid $3900 for it in November. Any have a clue what it's worth?
