I did an upgrade and LR2 works fine as well PS CS4. Unless the problems you read and are experiencing is related to the installation process.

I'm sure there are others :)
It is such a joy to use. The refurbished Expose is nice, more orderly, not some random mumbo jumbo.

On an awesome side note though, I just picked up a Yashica 50mm 1.2 for $20au. :D :D :D

I've read some stuff about the installation process (via disk). I'll call adobe tomorrow or whatever, but if it comes to it I could download the trial of 2.4 and use my product key. Just that this has been such a pain... when I finally get a legit copy of LR
For those on SL, have you noticed any weird things? For some reason, when I'm using youtube.. clicking on the video progress bar acts as a right click (so I would have to hit cmd+click to control the video) I just updated flash to the latest version, so I'll see how this changes it.

I had a similar case where my left click became right click for everything. Pressing the command button fixed that for me.

It's happened 3 times already. And yes, I've restarted my laptop (which is now AMAZINGLY fast thanks to Snow Leopard).. ><
These things don't happen on Macs, only PCs. I've been told that, over and over, for years.

I don't want an evil iPod but I'm in the market for a relatively cheap mp3 player to wear while running. Don't suppose anyone here has upgraded their equipment recently and is looking at disposing of old stock?
There's nothing evil about iPods :P
However, if you want something different, wander into any chinese electronics place and you'll have more choice than you can imagine.
I'm surprised at the rate equipment is superceeded, it seems like a waste. It would dissapoint me to see a replacement to the 5d2 so soon.
Indeed - I don't plan to replace mine anytime soon!
a few film makers with 5D2 are complaining that a firmware update hasn't been released that enables 24/25 on the 5D..
I'm still overjoyed with mine.. video's and stills.. its still a fullframe.
I'm wondering if they'll release another firmware update to allow 720p at 60fps on the 5DII.
So.. anyone else experience a similar problem?... at all..

Are you using the 2.4 install ? Or the one from the CD. I'd recommend d/ling 2.4 and using your CD key on it.

Dave - It's just the LR 2 box set. So I would have had to download an entirely new version (ie. 2.4), as opposed to an upgrade/patch file, once LR2 was installed?
Rowdy - Lol , I was already going to dl the trial version when I got home and use my product key.

When you download LR off Adobe, it is the full version, You do not need to do any prior installation.

Soo, for anyone else running Snow Leopard. What do you think of it? :p I LOVE the new expose features - like hitting F10 (on my mac, don't know if it's a different key on newer machines) to bring up the application specific windows, then being able to select the active applications in the dock to view their open windows/click on a window to be taken to the space where that window is open.
Has anyone else noticed when using spaces, while you are in the overview screen (ie. F8 ) you can't use the number keys to go to a specific space?

It's just the numbers above the letters, not a normal number pad lol. yeah, I usually just do that, or command+arrow. But it was a small thing I noticed and was like "errrm?!".

Well until you mentioned it, I didn't realise hitting the numbers in Spaces would do that, as I tend to just use cmd-arrow to navigate around them.

You on holidays or something Nic? Been posting a lot more during the day now. Did you say you're getting the 1D2 by Friday? I'm still unsure as to whether or not I'll buy a couple of SD cards now that I've got the option. Not really sure if they're up to scratch for shooting sports or filling the buffer with RAW files? On the topic of catalogues.. I understand I have to "upgrade" my old lightroom 1 catalogues. So for I've done one when initially opening it.. but it just made a new catalogue of the same name + a prefix of "-2". I take it we can just delete the old catalogues once that is done? You should be able to delete the old catalogue. Essentially when LR backs up the catalogue, it is effectively a catalogue on its own.

Should be easy to sell your 400D. I sold mine to my gf but I could have sold it anywhere quickly because I had the 18-55 kit lens still. That and the battery grip ended up on eBay and both sold too. I don't know why anyone would buy the 18-55 though
SD cards will be fine for JPEG at 8fps but if I want to shoot RAW (which I did for basketball) then the buffer will fill easily and it might not clear for ages
I was at school too, it's great having a data plan. POTN in class  Not that I get much time to browse away from here.
On that topic, does anyone with an iPhone or touch not like web browsing on it? In two days I've ordered the bench tables/chairs, new table tops for the current tables, removed the broken tables/poles in the concrete, sussed out Carton United and got 8 free Hogarden umbrellas, and am about to look at doing the floor. It all came in well under budget too. :D

We also sold 600kgs of metal lockers to a steel scrapper and made a hefty $43.00!!! Awesome!

Gah, good day ruined.
I just tried to buy tickets to see Tiësto, when he comes to Sydney next year (late january). They had sold out, in a week.
Worst is: Where do people get off at buying lots of tickets to an event, then powerselling them on ebay (which is obviously against ticketek's terms and conditions)??!

Makes you wonder what they'll shove in the 1D/1Ds IV though doesn't it ?
I just posted my thoughts in the Rumours forum...
Now that the 7D has been officially announced I'm thinking that some of the features the 7D has will be included in the next 1D release - I'm hoping it is!
Looks like there will be some AF improvements (Focus Color Luminance metering system) and improvements within the viewfinder especially along with the ability to do a lot more with custom controls.
I'd love to see inbuilt controls for remote flashes and also like the idea of the electronic level.
I'm hoping all of these features will be included in the next 1D.
Video could be a handy addition as well.
I'm guessing the next 1D will have:
15-18MP resolution
Dual Digic V processors
Improved state of the art AF
Native 6400 ISO (low light abilities at least as good as the 5D Mark II)
10-12FPS
Inbuilt wireless flash controller
Focus Color Luminance metering system
Electronic level
Improved Viewfinder
Bigger and better screen
Live View with AF
Ability to set custom controls to different buttons and dials
HiRes video with AF and manual exposure controls

Probably because Gizmodo is effectively brain-dead, especially about cameras.Harsh, but probably true.I'm not a video geek, but why the big hangup over 24p ? Is it just because of the ntsc/pal thing ?24p = film frame rate. 25p = PAL video frame rate. 30p = NTSC video frame rate. 720/60p = double SD NTSC video frame rate. A pity there isn't a 720/50p. Firmware update?Nope during school still! Just finding more time to check up in things.
Hopefully get the 1D by friday, if not it will be monday, and getting the lens once i sell my 400D in the next few days.

I do agree but the 1D has dual card shooting, with i believe, the option to send RAW to CF and Jpeg to SD card. (please correct me if i am wrong)
I just purchased a Tamron 28-75 and a 8GB CF card from BH so hopefully 12GB of CF cards will be enough.

Wrong. You can use both at the same time but only as backup (where whatever you've chosen, be it RAW or RAW+JPEG or just JPEG, is recorded to both). The RAW > CF and JPEG > SD option didn't come until the 1D2N and that was a main reason why they updated it as an N not a Mark III. As well as the larger LCD :p
Good idea getting the 28-75 from B&H, it's much cheaper than anywhere here.

It's a bit annoying but it's something you have to know and decide when buying a 1D2 or saving further for a 1D2N. I didn't really care because none of my work needs quick JPEG's handed over to an editor or anything like that... which I guess was the purpose of the feature seeing as it was (and still is) a top level sports camera
I gave up a 4GB CF card so I just have to decide if I'll get 2 4GB SD's to replace it at the cost of a bit of speed or just put up with 12GB total and have the CF for speed. I'd say 12GB is fine for me anyway, 8GB probably is already :p
No worries. The cheapest I've seen is that "special offer" of $650 from NGP Systems after I PM'd them on Brisbanephotography.com and they posted. By the time they got back to me, I'd changed my mind about what lens I wanted to get next so it was irrelevant to me but B&H was still better.

I usually keep and SD in my camera for times when my CF runs out and I've forgotten to pack spares. Granted... that's never. Anyway, the only thing that is affected is the number of shots in a high-speed burst. When you take the shots they just go into the camera's buffer and are then written to the card. It just means that if you fill the buffer, it takes a bit longer for the camera to "recover". Unless you are shooting aircraft, birds in flight, racing cars, motorbikes or certain action sports it's unlikely to be much of an issue.
The Moose

Yeah that's what I thought. 8FPS is fine but the buffer shooting RAW or even JPEG fills quicker and takes longer to recover. I'm fine with 2 Extreme III 4GB CF's for now anyway. If I know I'm going to need a bit more soon then I'll decide CF vs SD and 4GB vs 8GB.

On Saturday? Odd time.. no?
I guess, tho it's the only practical time. Tutes are 1 hour, while the test is an hour and a half.
I'm ok with a weekend exam. However, Saturday is also the UNSW open day!! So much for driving in..
/facepalm

Here is her response to a theme I suggested
"..as we are dancers however if you wanted a certain look go for it smile did you want us to bring like sexy under wear or anything else ??"
Ahh, the decisions we have to make as photographers.
all jokes aside, setting up the shot, posing the model, deciding on aperture for depth of field, deciding on and balancing the lighting especially on location with constantly variable ambient occurring, ensuring that there are no back ground items that will ruin the shot, getting the right expression on the models face, etc etc, it ain't easy and it isn't for the faint hearted.

Tru dat. Ermmm... what was your response to above question?
With 2 models you'd probably benefit from more than 1 helper... maybe you should ask someone from WPM?

open age forum here so I cannot repeat my answer, but it included honey on skin and a specific removal method!
Well I hope you have my extended OCC ready, we will need it for a couple of ideas I have. Also if you could bring a shoot thru brolly as well in case we need additional large soft lighting.Anyway confirm if you can make it Dan.

Fire-ants hey? Yes... that's a bit graphic.
Cable should be ready but alas I have no shoot through brolly... would a pair of soggy white y-fronts on a stick suffice?
