Hi guys,

I recently started to get ¨Please change the battery pack¨ on my SD1000.

Tried with a new battery and was doing the same thing.

Brought it in for repair and payed $60 at a local store. The guy said he flashed the control system.

It seems to be working like new again, but does anybody know what he did exactly ?

Thank you.

he erased the control system and put a new one or the same one (without your problem on) At least thats what it means when you flash a Bios or flash the ecu in your car. For a camera probably 10 minutes of labor which entails hooking it up and clicking a few things then waiting.

Thanks Snakekid, but what is the control system? And how did he go about doing it ? How do you flash the board or repair the control system/panel ?

The reason I ask is that i saw a lot of tutorials to fix lens problems, but non concerning the control panel, and I would like to be able to do it on my own next time, if not too complicated.

Do you know the details ? Thx again.

I don't know the details but i doubt you'd be able to get your hands on the software required for this. I have a sd1000 to and it has never failed me.

Hi guys, any other info on how to fix the control panel on this camera ? Just trying to understand how he fixed it.

Thank you.

He'd have to get access to a special data port in the camera with a dedicated communications and configuration package for that camera. It's sort of like programming a cell phone or SIM card.

Any pics on the process guys? Can't find any.

Thx again.

Pictures won't do you any good. You need a special application that Canon provides to their authorized repair facilities. You're not going to find a copy floating around on the 'net.
