Oh yeah! We met at the MUA meetup, not the Photographer meetup. The Photographer meetup is at Trinity Presbyterian (coolest church ever...and that's coming from me -- a Jew).

Nope, just one Eddie that shoots fire. :)

How ya been? It's good to see you here!

Oh true, ha. Damn i've never gotten an invite do that meet :o

I've been ok, been out of photography for a while b/c I got married/deployed. Getting back in when I get back. I want to learn from you :D

Glad y'all have been having fun with this. I've been on a freakin airplane all day.

HAHA! Yeah logos are always fun! The fonts that were in #2 are "Nedian - Medium" and "Bank Gothic - Medium"

Got a couple more for you... I'm super bored at work today! And yes I know the second one is totally Tim Burton'ish haha but it was fun to make!

I sort of like where the first one is going with the blended names. The second would be great for "Wild West" stuff like horses, roundups and cowboy portraits.

I appreciate your efforts...

It's a fun group of people, although some of the...er...more weathered members can be curmudgeonly at times.

I don't know what this month's seminar is on, so it may just be a general schmooze kind of meeting.

You're welcome to sign up and/or just stop by. It starts at 10am. It's right next to Epic Cafe, if you need a caffeine fix (I heartily and vigorously recommend their peanut butter mocha). I'll be leading this month's meeting. :)

You can still sign up for the $39 yearly fee. You will get all the episodes for the year in which you sign up. I signed up in June, and got the whole 2008 series. Once you sign up for it, you can also purchase the entire 2008 series for another $39.

Someone cut me off please. :(

Now just to sell the 70-200 and my body. No big deal.

Why are you selling one of the best zooms Canon makes, I wish I would not have sold mine, the 2.8 is way too heavy and not a good walk around lens, and not nearly as sharp. How much and whats the date code ?

Not sure on date code right now, but it is brand new unopened. Selling to fund 135L, don't rly need that focal range right now. Price is negotiable, around 540-550 (brand new)

Here's the best one... the rest he was making funny faces. lol It was quite amusing. :p

I think I want to add a backdrop to this, either an American Flag... or whatever. What would be the best way to do that? Or should I just leave it the way it is? Any suggestions would be wonderful.

Shadows look a tad crushed here dood...

IMO, this really could have used a little rimlight as well to define the edges of the hair as well as keeping his left shoulder from fading into the shadows. Even if it had only been a silver reflector at camera right, you'd have added a little better defintion to those areas.

Congrats to him btw...!

You'll probably have to get in close and do some lasso tool selecting. Trying just the magic wand will probably not work due to the similarity between the background and the crown of his head.

IMO, it would look more natural if it had more separation and fell more softly.

So Jeremy..... I think the flag is too much.. I love the idea, but it over-powers the boy... So how about diffusing it, blurring it, removing some color.. just to make it look like it's off im the background blur?

I wasn't sure how far to push it.. and I know this looks like crap... but do you get where I'm headed..>? I'm busy today but wanted to give a teenys bit of input real quick.. this is a 2 minute fix... lol...

85L is very nice... but... very slow. If you want to use it for anything other than portraits... I would pass and buy the 135L :) I'm not biased LOL shot with both...

Brian loves his 85L.... but... for the $$$ I still stand behind the 135L

I rented the 16-35II super sharp... handles flare really well... great lens all around. I love the Yellowstone shots I have from it. :D

Buy the 135L Jay... you have the 85mm :) and it is a step or 3 above it. On par with the 300... very close IMO.

Hatch is pretty much right on regarding the 85L. It is a FANTASTIC outdoor/natural light lens, as long as your subjects are relatively stationary. Moving subjects, kids, and the like are not the right match fot eh 85L.

Even though the 135L gives great bokeh, I still prefer the bokeh on the 85L. Plus it is a stop and a half faster than the 135L.

I'm saving my scheckles for the 135L, but I wouldn't give up the 85L as long as I still shoot with either natural light, or contstant light sources.

You are more than welcome to give it try and see what you think.

Would someone mind hitting B-H And see how much 2 day shipping is on a 100-400L to AZ? Supposed to be getting NAPP discount and don't think I am? Says 19.02 with discount, sounds like normal price to me.

UPS Ground = $14.95 (Grey Market Copy)

The US Copy says "Free Shipping"

Are you accessing B&H through the NAPP website? AFAIK, it "knows" you're coming via NAPP and everything should be Free Shipping...

ETA: Through the NAPP portal, I see the 100-400 as $13XX ($100 rebate price) + Free Shipping.

It says a $14.05 discount was applied but still $19.02 for 2 day, so that means to a non napp member 2day shipping is $33.07???
I almost always get 2 day shipping anyway and I thought it was about $20.00 without the discount? Was wondering what a non napp member would pay for 2 day shipping?

Just installed CS4, can't get a view I want, called adobe got canned response (reinstall)like I have 4 hours to uninstall and reinstall, so went to napp forum and trying to get it right.

Most of the major online retailers are OOS right now (B&H has it but it's $60 more than Canoga or KEH...)

In the for sale forum.

I'd get it from Canoga Camera. It's 935 on their site, and they give free shipping. From CA, it is like two days UPS. Their CS isn't quite as good as B&H, but it is really really close.

They will always get my business. I bought an 85L from them, and 3 months later there was a $200 rebate. I called them up, they processed a "return" and "resale" of the lens, and then I got the $200 rebate from Canon.

Remember.. I'm just a little bit slow... right... lol..?

So anyway... for those of you who have a micro-adjustment feature (yes I'm beating a dead horse)..... IF your camera is front focusing... and you want to make an adjustment.. do you move the slider to the left or to the right to compensate....?
