hahaha thats awesome lol.
:) Lots of shooters use them to practice lighting techniques. It has to be super boring for a person to sit there while practicing.
Welcome TauntDevil!
You have all the right to think that... because it's so true.
Thanks man! Anything new going on?

Whoo hooo. 5D Mark II and 70-200 f/4IS are on their way. Ranger RX/AS will be here tomorrow.
Now I need to just sell my 17-55IS or a kidney and I can get the 24-70. :D

I layered a moon shot taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L on a 50mm sky shot.
By the way, I am making a car rig...
I currently have the following in my B&H Photo cart:
2 Avenger F1000's :http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/67896-REG/Avenger_F1000_F1000_Pump_Cup_with.html/mode/edu
1 Double ball head/clamp/platform bundle http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/581220-STUD/Manfrotto_155_Double_Ball_Joint.html/mode/edu
2 Super Clamps http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/546356-REG/Manfrotto_035RL_035RL_Super_Clamp_with.html/mode/edu
If I am correct, the only other thing I need now is the aluminum conduit. I am not exactly sure where a good balance between weight and rigidness is. I will be using a 40D and 17-40 f/4L mounted with the ball head combo I have in my cart.
Do you guys have any input on my shopping cart? Also I would really appreciate help choosing conduit, I have a supplier but I can't decide what size to order.
Great photos as usual guys :)

Hey guys! It's been ages since I've posted. Work kept me busy beyond belief this summer and then I had a terrible cold that seemed to last forever. I just recently picked up my camera again. I really missed it.
I started out with an old favorite of mine - Oil & Water

Nice work, everyone! I have had trouble keeping up with the forum this summer but I see you all have been busy!
I just hauled my camera out to get it ready for a trip up to Page/Grand Canyon/Sedona that I'm taking next week with a friend. Imagine my surprise when the pictures on the CF card (that I had never downloaded) were from MAY! Guess I was lacking motivation this summer. Maybe now that the weather has cooled off some I'll feel more like getting out and about.
Hope everybody had a great summer!

The name actually has no meaning. When i was 7 my friends and family called me Taunt for reason i cant remember. But when i was called little devil for how bratty of a child i was. TauntDevil just kinda came in my mind and stayed there. About 3 months before my birthday i made an email account named tauntdevil and as time went by, its always been with me. Many people think its gay or retarded but its my own thing and i like it so i stay with it.
I kinda got to far with it i guess because we got a personal copyright of the name when my fathers girlfriend was in the law business :)

It's a blue bow, i tried pulling the color out and making everything else b/w but it didn't look right so i just made it all b/w. It is hard to tell what it is on such a small picture, if you click the photo to view the full size image you'll see it then.

Yeah i warmed it up quite a bit. It's quite a sensual shot and looks like a heated moment so i bumped up the color temp for this one. 6700k i think is roughly where it was at.
glad you like the series and thanks for the compliments. It was a fun shoot! My second maternity shoot and it turned out quite well. She just had her baby and now i want to try to do my first newborn shoot when possible.

Having a little trouble, I used the search bar like always but didnt find what i was looking for so maybe ill ask here.
I am looking to buy the Tamron 70-300mm zoom lens since i dont have $1200 for a 70-300mm Canon 2.8 IS. I was wondering though, Canon calls it image stabilizer but does the tamron have something similar? And also, is it macro? Alot of times when i see someone explaining it, i dont find the macro/IS part about it... can someone help me please?

The Canon 70-300 is not $1200. I found it on Adorama (http://www.adorama.com/CA70300ISNU.html?utm_source=gbase&utm_medium=Shopping%20Site&utm_campaign=Other&utm_term=Other) for $529. And this one does have IS. I'm not sure what Tamron's lingo is for their version of image stabilization.

Sorry i messed up, i meant 70-200mm. The one i was talking about was this one here (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/reviews/canon-ef-70-200mm-f-2.8-l-is-usm-lens-review.aspx) My friend traded his 4.0 for a 2.8 not to long ago. I got to use it and love it. I really want it but i dont get paid and i dont have a job anymore do to no one hiring and all so i have to go as cheap as possible. No. It's a 16-500000 f/1.2 IS.
They put it on the Hubble. :) Rumor has it that it has serious backfocus issues and CA is horrible.

Good luck!
It might be a good idea to practice a lot for still shots with a stuffed animal or friends in similar environments long before the wedding. Also, practice taking indoors casual snaps in crowds to practice for the reception. And then, tag along as second-shooter on some weddings.
After my gear is properly fleshed out, I'll work into wedding photography, too.

Some tamron lenses have VC which stands for vibration compensation...it is equivalent to canons Image stabilization.
macro is something totally different.

It appears that Tamron makes two versions of this lens, the Image stabilized what they call VC (vibration compensation) and a macro version non-VC. Here's the link to the tamron lenses http://www.tamron-usa.com/lenses/prod/wide_tele.asp
you might also check out the sigma's :http://www.sigma-photo.co.jp/english/lens/tele/70_300_4_56_os.htm again they make two versions one with Optical Stabilization the other a Macro version but apparently no Optical Stabilization.

I'll go, I love imports, I use to build/swap honda and acura motors. I raced a 94 Honda Civic Hatch when the B-Series motors were "in". The model on the main page wearing the white bikini on the "Model Lounge" is so beautiful. She is from AZ Cover Girls, or atleast she was when I first met her. My friend had a photo shoot with her and his truck like 3 years ago.

I have alot of practice in many areas, im not shooting the wedding as the main photography nor am i getting or have ever been payed for doing photo.
The lady who is getting married was looking for a photography so i emailed her asking if i could come and shoot as practice since i never have before and am a complete beginner. She said she would love to help me and that i can, as long as i stay out of the way and all. She has a pro photography already but is letting me come to practice.

The one thing I have learned over the years on this forum and others is to always check the work of the person who is giving advice. This has really helped me rule out those who know what they are talking about and those who think they do.
I'm not saying Tagg's advice is all bad... I'm just saying there is a lot of talent and a wealth of knowledge in this group and in the forums. You be the judge;)
Where this all comes from is I'm a member of a photography critique site and some people rate and comment on my work or give me advice on how to do things.... I look at their work and if it is as good as mine... or better... I try to learn from what they had said.... If not... well... I just move on. this has saved me a lot of aggravation of the years.
I had a look at your Flickr gallery and you have nice sharp images and good exposures. You are doing better than I did when I started shooting. To work with a pro wedding photographer should be fun and really... no pressure on you to capture anything...which is great! I say have fun with it... learn as much as you can from him/her on the wedding day.
Again... welcome to the forum!

I was wondering because I thought you would lose some flash power through the coco but maybe set TTL and flash compensation if its not giving the proper exposure.
The Park isnt hard to find just get off at priest and go to Rio Salado turn East then go down to where you have the sharp turn. then make a left into the park. It is almost immediately after the sharp turn.
I think I will go when there are less people there. It is way too many now I bet. Maybe tonight for the candlelight vigil.

A lot of people have gotten new light kits and near as I can figure the weekend of the 18th and 19th are open for me.
We should have some kind of meetup and play with our lights.
My house is small, but we could use my house or yard for some OCF practice and have a couple different setups with some models. Maybe do some potluck kind of thing with some food (and some food shots) and make some kind of a party thing out of it.
Anybody want to try and coordinate some thing like that?

Thanks Christina. I saw your post late last night after I got home from a high school football game. If I'd seen it sooner maybe we could have tagged-up. Anyway, I'm sure we passed each other out there. It was nice to see so many others out there taking the opportunity to gather a little bit of history. I'm sure next year it will be packed as it will be the 10th anniversary. All I can say is that at times it was so hard to focus, me, not the camera. Very well done and emotional.

I do car shoots and use to have my own DIY rig made. Its better to make your own because the ones baught usually arent so good depending who you went with. Dont let it hang to low or be wobbly. Also something i learned is pay attention haha, my camera has met a wall here and there doing rig shots. Thats all for now from me. It's kind of silly that LR backups don't overwrite previous backups...
I gutted my LR folders and reclaimed an entire 2TB drive!

Geez.... I go away for a weekend and there are like 10- pages of stuff to catch up on! WOWZA. You guys have been BUZY shooting some awesome iamges! :)
I'll go back and make comments when I have more than a few minutes to spare... but I like the images that I saw while browsing. :)
I did happen to zero in on these posts.... ;)
Hey frank, so i went to the fitness one gym yesterday off of union hills and I have a habit of looking at the business cards at the local businesses and I just so happened to see your cards for azproimage with you and kristy's name on it;)
haha.. I work out there, and so I keep a few cards on the desk. We have done lots of body building sessions, and of course people who work out have families and children... so it seems like a good place....
That's an odd place for a newborn/childrens photographer to advertise. :D
Not so odd.....
It never ends! LOL Thought it was a good tip... just passing it on :)

Yup...
Left to its own devices, LR creates a new folder by date for each backup it does.
I'm thinking simply mirroring is better because then you're backup will never grow bigger than your primary.

Yeah... I don't really like the way LR does it's backups. Mirroring as in a RAID1 array?
I'm just using an external backup program to backup my photos and catalogs. I keep all of them on one disk, and then back them up to my array.

Nah, just mirroring as in making Copy B of Drive A...
Kinda low tech but it works.

I went to the Phoenix Art Museum last Wed. because it's free on Wed.'s and I'm all about the free stuff . . .
Also I wanted to practice my museum photography, it's dark inside the museum and the lighting is poor and very dim, lots of sections don't allow photography at all and it's often difficult to get shots that bring home the memories without looking like cheap snapshots . . .
Museum photography is hard to do, and good practice at the same time.

Hey Taunt. I'm going with Dean on Saturday to the track to take some pictures. Sunday there is a photoshoot that is being hosted by Get Image Ready (http://www.getimageready.com/model_search/site/index.php/photographers). The entry fee is $175, but if you use the promo code "DLPEK", you will get 10% off. I'm going to this event on Sunday. One of my photog friends is one of the instructors. I'm sure you'll get at least 4 good photos from there so you can sign up to MM.

Nice Pup Portrait!
Two Issues .. One Minor and One Major
Minor: Level it via the corner bead (running slightly downhill to camera right)
Major: Carpet at front/center is blown out (a little exposure blending could probably fix that if it's not entirely gone in RAW)
Oh, and give the Dogs a *SKRITCH* ;)

Thanks Jay. Could you explain what you mean on the minor issue. Is the image slightly tilted, seen on the wall behing the boxer? The major I understand and will try to fix tonight.

You have three "lines" in your shot...
1) Baseboard along the back (Red)
2) Baseboard at camera right (Blue)
3) Corner formed by two walls (Green)
Only #3 can be trusted for straightening because you're keystoned to 1 and 2 is running away out of frame.
Most folks want to grab a horizontal line to adjust for plumb but you can use vertical lines as well if they're the only thing that can be straight.
Actually, per the green line, it's straighter than it first looked...
FlyingPhotog
14th of September 2010 (Tue), 12:26
Do you have Lightroom? If so, the "Horizon Tool" in Crop works on either horizontal or vertical lines. Drag it up along that corner and it will make that line straight up and down.

I think its the vignetting that adds the tilted effect. I looked like such a dumbass holding a ruler to my monitor just now.
I dont have LR but I have PS Elements 8, I can try it tonight when I get home to see what I can do. And thanks for the visual, it helped a TON.

Oh, yea just an FYI for you all, the Museum offers free admission on Wednesdays and if you take the light rail it lets you off almost right in front. Plus there are lots of dinner options just a stop or two away on the train and you can add some street photography if you want.
There are some parts of the museum that don't allow photography, but other parts are full of tons of very poorly lit things to try to photograph.

Close... It is a palette full of 5 gallon water bottles but it was in one of our NASCAR compounds in the Catering area. Usually, squeezing something down for the web makes images look better but in this case, the print is much more "graphic" and "geometric" than it looks here. Another one you'd like better in person.
Maybe we need a "Wine and Print" night?

If enough folks would make the effort to get three or four quality prints done of their best stuff and be willing to do a little show and tell (with some good natured ribbing in return) I'd be glad to host.
Wait just a little while maybe and we can do it on the back patio around the pool.
