Hi All,

Well today was the hardest shoot I have ever done (Emotionally). My ex girlfriend asked me if I could take photos of her for her boyfriend.

I decided that I couldn't say no and I went ahead with it and tryed to put a smile on my face to look like I was fine with it.

Has this kind of thing ever happened to anyone else? If so how did you deal with it?

That is certainly a hard position to be in. However, have you looked at it on a brighter spectrum? Perhaps it's hard to accept that she's moved on with someone else, but why not think of her as a new clientele in your network. Because she knows that you are skilled, use that to your advantage. Market yourself. In a way, manipulate the situation from what could be an emotional insecure session to a business opportunity. In other words, fake it 'til you make it is a good ideology esp. with break ups.

In terms of relationships, I always look at exes as "could-have-been (the one) but isn't." I accept fate and look forward to meeting new people. Don't let a breakup drag you down. Married people like me live vicariously through happy single people :D

Take the shots and Photoshop them ..Shrink her boobs blow her ass up huge and add some skin imperfections...
No really that would be hard man......But be a pro about it and do what you do best...........

Oh to be young again! One day you will remember writing this thread and think to yourself how trivial this day really was.

Ok, I don't know how old you two are but she looks awfully young. Come to Hawaii. We're known for having gorgeous people. You can always do better ;).

I'd say hell no...that's a horrible situation to be in, and it's cruel of her to ask something of that of you since it's clear you have opposing feelings about the situation.

Never accept a shoot if it's not comfortable for you; my 0.02 $

Looks like the shoot went ok - good to see you have moved on to a situation where you can operate without problems.

Sounds like she wanted a good photographer, knew you were one and wanted you to shoot it despite any history you might have had.

Consider yourself lucky for having moved on, given how insensible she is, to ask such a thing...

I think maybe she's just trying to make someone jealous, either you or her new boyfriend. Maybe both of you.:D

Thanks all, My current girlfriend is a bit annoyed that I went ahead with it and did the shoot anyway but I explained that she has nothing to worry about and that we could do with the extra money.

I suggest moving into "boudoir" style photography of your new girlfriend and put it all over your website ;) That'll even the score!..Not sure how old you both are, though..may not be the best of ideas afterall ???

You're the first guy I've ever met that has had something positive come from an ex-girlfriend. Well done!

It's no big deal. I offered to shoot her wedding too but her husband had one of his photographer friends do it instead. I haven't seen her in years but when we were dating she had a pretty good figure. Woulda been great for my portfolio. I wish I was into photography back then too because she had some hot friends and I know they would have done some posing for me. Probably even stuff that'd tickle her jealous bone.

My dad used to spout that corny old expression when I was growing up: “It’s a big ocean, and there are a lot of fish” and then he’d add his own special caveat to that of: “And catching fish is easy, but knowing when to throw them back is the hard part”.

Now that I’m a bit older, it rather makes sense now.
