View Full Version : Should I upgrade to CS2?

Background:
I have PE3, Shipley's masks, curves, etc., the Neat Image plugin to handle PE3's limited noise reduction, and Focus Magic. I'm not completely new to this: PE2 & 3, PSP 7,8, & 9, PhotoImpact10. I'm not a pro, do a bit of RAW, mostly HQ jpegs off my 300D, don't need CMYK, etc. There's no way I'm going to spend $650 on Photoshop.

However, Adobe has a Canon/PE2 offer going where next month I can get the full boxed CS2 for $299. This is tempting... maybe.

SO, I'm looking for advice. Frankly I'm not going to use CS2 for much more than what my PE3 is capable of. My question is: is CS2 gonna do the same things any better than PE3 (or PSP9 for that matter) to justify the $300 cost (and months to learn)???

Now I know I could get the trial of CS and see for myself, and the ultimate decision is mine, but I'm just looking for opinions from those who have/have use both. Is CS that much "better" than PE3??

I believe that's CS for $299, no mention of CS2 at this time. I'm hoping that they will change that to CS2 at some point because I have PSE3 now, but have been looking at the upgrade also.

As I understand it from another poster on another forum who called Adobe, if you ordered now, before CS2 is released, you do get CS. But you once it's released they send you the CS2 disk (only) for $5.95. I can wait for the release of CS2.
