I am looking into buying a sigma macro lens but im a little confused about the different ones available. It seems that there are two different types that im looking at, one is the sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX macro and the other is sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG macro... Whats the difference? I notice that the DG min focus dist. of 12.2" as the EX min focus dist. is 4.7" ... does that mean that the EX DG can get the same shot being farther away? Any help would be great Thanx

the EX must be a old one ,the new one is EX DG, maybe your looking at the 150 which is a great lens

I think the EX is an older version... They do have the EX DG on the 105... I wish i could afford the 150 but its to much $$$

If it's any help, I use the non-dg 105mmEx version.

The lens is fine - not sure what other differences there might be, but the newer DG version is supposed to have special coatings to prevent reflections from the sensor.

105 will suit you better than the 150 anyway - its tough to hand hold the 150 and get good results with smaller insects and when using tubes you will get more magnification for the same extension.
The Sigma 70mm looks good too.
