Have any of you 1D MKII owners bought anything aside from the Canon NP-E3 NiMH that seems to be no lower than $119.00?
The lowest I found is $34.95 From http://store.bargainbasementbatteries.com/bc1360.html
But I wonder if I really want to chance a no-name battery in a $4,000 camera?

I have same problem. I need another batter for my 1d and paying once 160eur (around $200) is a lot, paying another 160eur hurts even more :) Since I don't need third battery tomorrow I'm thinking to wait till June when I'm going to USA and but it there for almost 50% less or another chance is to pay $40 for third party battery. I don't know what could go wrong anyway. Yeah it might last less then original but for 1/3 of price it's not that bad idea.

The build quality of some of the 3d party batteries leave much to be desired. I have two such batteries. The give me no problems except if I turn the camera into protrat and then the 3d party batteries will lose contact and the camera looses power:(

i just bought additional batteries and wanted to check out a 3rd party for $60. I regret it now using it and would gladly pay the $120 for the Canon battery. The fit is not as good, material is inferior and battery doesn't even last as long even at 2200mah!

With this Camera just get the genuine battery made by Canon they are worth the money in my opinion chances are you will only need 1 spare the seem to last forever.
a mate has bought some 3rd party bats and has had probs, don't risk it with a pro camera.
