I took my first stab at HDR a few nights ago in downtown Rockford, Illinois. There are some artifacts in the reflections that I don't really like. Other than that I am pretty happy with them though.

Any thoughts or tips on how to improve for my next time out would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow, these tuned out great. My favorite is #4 for it's perspective.

I like them all, you put Rockford on the map with those shots.

Nice shots. Born and raised there and never did care for that bridge. The State Street bridge was always my favorite, especially when the floods were up. :)

I live in the Quad-Cities and never realized Rockford could look that good. Nice job on all of them. Could you give some tech info? Number of exposures, program used, etc.

Thanks for all of the positive comments! As far as the tech info on them....

They were all composed of 3 bracketed exposures (0, -1, +1). The HDR merge was done in CS3 and the resulting TIF file had some minor tweaks (sharpening and a little saturation boost of the sky) done in lightroom.

The 4th is the best! I like the arc of the shore that has something in common with the arcs of the bridge. And the possibility to compare the background from both sides of the image is good for composition.
