I would love to see some wedding pictures all you good people have taken.
I know there is lots of good wedding photographers out there that would love to share a few tips on how the pic, were taken settings, and all.
Kind of give me an Ideal how to shoot my sons, wedding next month.
All of you have such wonderful pictures they are so clear and sharp looking compared to mine. Do you'll mind sharing a favorite wedding picture and the ex-if: data. I will be shooting with the DRebel and have several lenses. and external flash if needed. But don't really have a white celling to bounce off.
I know this ? about how to prepare for a wedding and what lens and settings to use. Sorry but I'm asking again if you nice people don't mind. I'm shooting my sons wedding in a few weeks and I would like them to be fairly nice looking. This will be my first time shooting with digital.
appreciate any help on this. I have always come to this board for help and always gotten good feedback as what to do for improvement. And I appreciate you all very much for all the help you have giving and help me to learn. You guys, are awesome here. ONe of the best forums on the net.
I will owe gratitude to you all if my wedding pic's come out any good. It will be the ones on the forum, that help me get there. And get the job done right.
Thanks, Hugs Gail

Hello Gail,
Here is my pick. I call it "Father of the Bride". My friend always said he would dance on a table at his daughter's wedding and out of the blue he did!

Congratulations! I do not have any experience as an "official" photographer for a wedding, but I had good luck as a back-up for a friend's daughter's wedding last summer. The bride was especially appreciative of the photos I got of friends and family not in the wedding party per se; i.e., guests attending the wedding, other than groomsmen, bridesmaids, parents, ringbearers, etc. I think this is something professional photographers downplay because brides are limited by budget as to how many photos they can purchase and so they normally choose family and closest friends in the wedding party over other friends and family. So I recommend that in addition to photos of the bride and groom, etc., you shoot as many as you can of all the other people in attendance.
Given the quality of your camerawork, I understand your wanting to do this yourself, but I hope you will have someone there capable of turning your camera toward you. Photos of the mother of the groom should not be overlooked. You will probably be beaming so much, flash will be unnecessary. If you wear a silvery umbrella-style hat, you can be your own light stand!
Best wishes and God's blessings for a wonderful event, a long-lasting, happy marriage for your son and future daughter-in-law, and a great album of it all.

I'm not by any means a professional yet but I thought I'd share what I thought were some of my favorites from the wedding I shot April 9th (my BILs wedding):
http://www.amazon.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=53ud287.1wfcpnuz&x=0&y=leogsd
A few things I regretted about having done the wedding, the timeline me and the B&G had agreed on changed at the last minute so the whole day was hectic and not running on time which ultimately led to not as many shots of the B&G (which I make up for with an outdoor session at the end of the month). Another thing I regretted was not taking more guest shots as already suggested. I wished I had goen around the 200 some guests and snapped photos of them at the tables but by the time we arrived from the photo shoot at the church almost 1/3 had already left. =o( And after cutting the cake the other 1/3 left with just the last 1/3 remaining for the duration of the wedding (like bouqet toss and alike).
Umm and there was something else I regretted which I can't think of now...but anyways those two were the more important ones I personally felt I missed, but with the extra photoshoot I can at least get the shots of the B&G. The guests probably got caught on other guests cameras, most of my BILs family is trigger happy folks so I'm sure there's lots of pictures of stuff that I didn't have time to capture on camera. =o)
I'm srue you'll do fine, just do a lot of research, that's what I did. I research shots and good poses and had a list with me of the poses I wanted to take and even made a timeline so I wouldn't miss shots. We want to see the results when you're done, ok?!

Which DReb do you have? The 300 or the 350??
Either way throw that external flash on and shove some new batteries into your pocket to support it! Don't even take a chance with the onboard flash (as improved as they are) as one great shot with a hint of red eye is one bad shot. Plus your external flash will reach a lot farther. Perfect example is Maz's pic above. And try bouncing it off of anything anyway when you get there.....that's the beauty of digital for sure, you'll know if the "black super high vaulted ceiling" will work for you or not in one or two test shots.

Thanks Maz, Edgar, Tsee and MT for the help and photos, you shared. I was ask by my son to shoot the wedding. I was like but son, mama's don't take the pic's. he reply I know but i want you to do them. I said I'm the mother of the groom and that is a day that I giving my baby away lol. but he ask me and It was hard to say no.
MT, you did an excellent job on the wedding photos I had seen them last week in a post and was amazed by them. Said I hope I can get some just half as good as yours.
And Tsee, you have some amazing shots also and I will take your advice and try and get some of the guest as you suggested. I know this day will be hectic,, for me also I'm putting the wedding together on top of all that I'm the photographer also so it will be a long tiering day for me. thanks for you help and tips,
I have did a bit of researching and have gotten a few ideals of some shots I want to get just hope all goes well. As I told them they need to have a back up camera also.
Because thats a special day and I wouldn't want them to not have any good pic's of their wedding. The wedding I'm doing is just a small country wedding nothing fancy.
Well, wish me luck that all goes well, and I will be sure to post some of the photos.
Thanks :-)

Mama's don't take the pictures at weddings. One of my sons decided I should take the pictures at his wedding - the pictures turned out fairly well - but shoot as a father I would have preferred to have just enjoyed the wedding.

Basically all I did was think of the shots I would have wanted from my wedding and shot that in addition to what the B&G wanted. The timeline idea helped me to not run around like a hen with my head cut off, listed what photos needed to be taken when and so on. And I know all about a tiring day, I helped set up part of the wedding the day before the wedding and helped the bride with some planning, and it get tiring but it will all be worth it!
My best suggestion as far as getting the shots you want, put them on a piece of paper and stick them in your camera bag, its easy to forget things in the heat of the moment, at least I think it is. And a backup camera is a must, even if its a film camera, you could even ask someone else who's attending the wedding to take pictures also from a guests standpoint and say you pay for the film.
Good luck and I can't wait to see the photos!

Lol ....me too I would preferred to just enjoy the wedding.
But in this family, I'm always the one behind the camera and video cam.
Everyone will always volunteer me. Let Gail do it. lol
but I do enjoy taking photos.

i shot pics for my cousins wedding, and it was the worst wedding i ever went to. i didnt get to enjoy it at all. iwas too busy running around trying to get shots. Do yourself a favor, spend some money on a decent photographer, itll be the best money you ever spent. otherwise dont expect to have to time to enjoy your son get married. just my 2 cents.:)

Older than what? Yes "that" is the bride. She's 37 or there abouts and blissfully unaware that she's too old to get married!

i think the idea shot for me would be to have jesus in focus, the rest blurry. usually that is how pictures of people look best. with them in focus and the background blurred. Nice shots though.
