I recently came home to find that my house had been broken into.

The main things missing were my safe which had a large amount of money in it, and over $20,000 in camera equipment.

My advice to each and everyone of you, make sure your stuff is insured!

Because it was stolen out of your house, wouldn't homeowners insurance cover the loss?

can someone please point me to the direction of camera insurance. And how much would it cost for about 8,000 of camera gear. Thanks.

How exactly does camera insurance work? Since I buy most of my items off craigslist and have no receipts for them how would it work?

i currently use state farm. since i make a living doing it, i had to get a separate rider for the camera gear. $23,000 cost me about $350 a year i think.

Make sure you understand your policy as well.

No offense, but another idea could be to get your house secured better.

It's not like they came thru an open window, they kicked down my back door.

but good call. alarm system installed, security cameras on their way.

I use Hill & Usher (http://packagechoice.com/index.jsp#htwms) for my insurance. I haven't filed a claim (thank God).

Was the safe not secured to the floor or a stud?
