Hi all,

What's the advantage to getting the Super rather than the "non Super".

I can get a very good deal on a "non Super" flash at the minute.

Sigma make two flash units. The EF 500 DG SUPER has similar functionality to a Canon 550EX and the EF 500 DG ST which has similar functionality to a Canon 420EX.

The EF 500 DG ST is a fully automatic unit with no manual overrides. The EF 500 DG SUPER provides manual controls for such things as Flash Exposure Compensation. For that reason the EF 500 DG SUPER is a better match for a camera like the EOS 300D which does not have FEC (unless hacked).

See the Sigma UK site for more details http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/flash/index.htm

To add on what Cadwell had said, the DG Super EO-ETTL is ETTL II compatible which will be useful if you have a ETTL II dc.

Get the super and dont look back. As your photography progresses you will need the manual controles on occasion and will be kicking yourseld if you dont have them because you opted to save $40.
