Hey a Question to all 20D owners, have you ever seen that white little round light, light up. It's located on the right (shutter button side) of the camera. I have never seen it light up at all.. Just wondering if that is indeed what it does.

It's the "red eye reduction" light. You get your subjects to stare at it and it's supposed to reduce "red eye" when using flash.

ohh ok.. thanks..
I was curiouse because I remember when I was in the zoo, my friend D70 was shinning a bright white light in the mokey house.
I think he was using flash, but I wasn't using flash, just high iso, and a fast lens.

I doubt it would work with monkeys ;)

The white light in the D70 (as on the F80) is the auto focus assist, as N***n's poor quality autofocus cannot work without this beam in low light conditions ;).
Is that your friend's N***n lens you got on your 20D?

Red eye reduction of my F80 (long gone as I've switched to Canon Digital), didn't work with our dog, her eyes are bright green when using flash.
Should we request camrea makers to provide green eye reduction editions of their cameras for wild life photographers?

no that's my Tamron 180 Macro.. for Canon.
ohh ... so that's why his light kept going off like that.

If you haven't seen your red-eye reduction light come on it's probably because the option to use red-eye reduction is OFF by default. At least it was OFF on my 350D. It's the second item on the first menu tab, if you want to try it out.
