Hi everyone
I'm just starting to get past point and shoot photography and use my manual settings (thanks to this forum :D).
I'm using a Powershot S1 IS and the settings I used for this were:
Shutter 1/50
Aperture f/4.5
A small amount of zoom and no tripod.
I've only slightly modified this in photoshop (made the horizon straight and took the brightness down a touch). Everything else is how the pic came out.
Critique critique critique away... please :D

Do you have a larger size as it is not clear enough to see what the noise, sharpness etc is like?
By "no tripod" did you have it hand held or placed it on a hard surface? That is not bad for a wide aperture and a slowish shutter speed. What ISO setting did you have?
Alos, the horizon does not look level to me. If you crop out the top and bottom dark parts, I think you may get a more interesting image. Or next time, zoom straight in and capture those bright colours.

Greetings,
This is the best sunset shot to me.

Very beautiful sunset :D
Colours are very strong, only it seems to be a little leaning to the right.
Best regards,
Andy

Here is a bigger version. I had to reduce the quality a fair bit so that Photobucket would accept something this big (Don't have my own web site yet).
I know the horizon looks a tad slanted but when I use the horizontal guide in photoshop it is dead straight. I even turned the brightness and contrast up so I could see the horizon clearly and I can assure you it is straight :)
I can't remember what ISO I had the camera on and I can't find it in the EXIF data. Anyone want enlighten me on what the ISO is called in the EXIF data?

You are right. Your EXIF on this image does not have an "ISO speed rating" or "ISO Value" section.
Your EXIF version is 0220. On my camera the EXIF version is 0221 and has a load more data:

Does this mean that the Powershot has a "preset" ISO. Your Exposure Mode was "Auto", maybe you cannot change ISO on Auto setting? Anyone know?
