I am going to be getting these triggers just for now but i was wondering what i would need in order make them work with my 540ez and my 40D. I just need a list of anything else extra i need besides the transmitter and receiver if not i am good to go. Thanks

Assuming you have all the lightstands and umbrella/softbox worked out. You do not need anything else since the flash mounts onto the cactus receiver, and the transmitter goes on your camera hotshoe

Nope. Tx goes on the camera's hotshoe, Rx goes on the flash. That easy. I have to ask though... why V2s and not CTR-301P's or V4s ?

well i have heard the v4's arent as reliable as the v2s and have never even heard of the other trigger that you said.

I don't have any experience with the V4s, so I won't comment further on them.
I do own both the V2s and the CTR-301P's. The V2s out of the box worked for me about... 60-75% of the time, with lots of random firing. Frustrating to say the least. After modifying them (look up the mod on strobist), it pushed consistency up to about 80-90%, but still a headache. The Yongnuo CTR-301P have been flawless straight out of the box. I've owned them for a while now, and have had 100% consistency with them so far. They're about the same price as the cactus triggers, so do some research on them, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I'm not 100% sure if they'll work with the 540EZ or not, so look it up and double check.
Good luck!

I had V2's and they would only work about 50% of the time for me.. that or misfire.. I got my V4's this week and they have been working 100%! Huge improvement for me. I believe the issues you are reading about the V4's are from the first back. Gadget infinity has addressed this issue already.
Only downside for me about the V4s is the hot shoe is a big snug. Otherwise, very happy with them and a great improvement over the V2 for me.

A quick question.
All the DUY modifications I've seen were about adding an antenna. That shure should increase the distance and eliminate much of skipping but it will not do anything to random firing. Actually it should increase their probablility because the random signals and noise are gained the same way as the signal emitted by the transmitter.
So how did you manage to improve the random fires by modifying the triggers ? I would do that mod to mine even thouh I am yet to see a single misfire from my V2s .
