This has a lot of good in it, but I sure haven't been able to pp it correctly. http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif I have to work on it some more (the original two shots, 2 exposures) when I get time. I think if I can figure out the pp (post processing) it will be an awsome shot http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif
The sun rays coming from the clouds are killer! Comments welcome of course.

Can't figure out why you would want to do any pp at all to it.....great photo and one that would be generally considered outstanding. Bravo. I hope I would get the opportunity for even ONE in my lifetime with natural lighting components like yours.

Stunner!!!
That is about what Ani and I thought when we came up over the hill and seen the sun rays coming from the clouds. SLAM on the brakes, make a left turn into The Womans Forum (a little pull out park overlooking the Vista House), grab the tripods and camera and STILL about mess the shot up. I wish I would have paid more attention to how I was shooting :(

Thanks Vesselin! I keep looking around on the computer and find one once in a while where I got lucky and got a halfway decent shot. When I do, I try to post them.

Mind posting the original? Looks good, but I'm curious.
But according to one of your previous posts:
The color almost looks over-processed. I'm not a fan of photos that don't look natural.
you don't like photos like I post process them. I am not a fan of photos that look natural usually.
Aren't we all glad not everyone likes the same things! 10 people take the same shot of something and they will all look different. Great!!
Alspeed wanted to see the original in this thread:
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=68108
and I posted it. I probably shouldn't have done that. Could you please post your www so I can see where you put the (your) originals and pp shots side by side Drew? Then I will be able to get an idea of the kind of pp you do.
I suppose asking to look at the original is like asking a woman: Hey Lady, take all your clothes and make-up off, scrub down good... NOW I will look at you.
I don't think that would go over very good, telling a woman (most of them anyway) that you want to see them without make-up on.http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif
What I am trying to say is: The photos I post is the way I want them seen.
And yes, I don't think the pp on this one is very good. But it IS mine...IS the way I did it so far.
If I happen to have that CD in computer I will see if I can pull the originals off and post them.
This is not meant to be an offensive post Drew, so please don't take it that way.
And: Thank you for commenting and asking.

Thanks for taking a look Tom, I appreciate it! OT: It sure seems weird you can't ship wine to your house, that is has to go to your daughters house before yours :) The main thing is, it did get there, correct!

Maybe light up the house?
So that the rays are actually falling on it... not somewhere else?
Great shot anyway

Wow, killer shot MrChevy. Don't think I've seen a better shot of the Vista House and the Columbia Gorge. That's what I call right place, right time, right exposure!

What I am trying to say is: The photos I post is the way I want them seen.
What about women who wear too much make-up? Now I'm not saying that to be a pain, as i think photographically you're doing things well, and post-processing them to the way you want them to look, but have you ever tried lessening the extent of processing? perhaps to find some middle ground?
I'm just trying to offer a suggestion really, and we both have the right to differ, and of course neither one of us is right and this could go on forever, but rather than just tell you "oh this is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!" i was curious. What you did with it is very cool, i just think perhaps a bit overdone.
To me, when i see a photo, i want to say "Wow, that was really taken well." What I don't want to say is "wow, computers can do amazing things."
I'm just proposing that you maybe try lesseing the extent of PP, just to see if you can get anything you might even like better.

Thanks! That is an idea! In fact, we did just that in 2003, entered a couple county fairs and the Oregon State fair with some of our "over" processed shots. Ani even got a Peoples Choice award, so the "people" like them too I suppose?
We had never entered any contests and wanted to see what Judges (who knows how they think, they don't seem to care for "normal" looking photos!) and people thought of our work since it is just a hobby for us.
We picked up a bunch of 1st's 2nd's, Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, Best of Show etc...

Thanks for the comment! I agree, the trees are a tad bright. If I can ever figure out PS I might be able to fix that.

I hear you Drew, and agree it is partly overdone in PS, and appreciate you commenting on how it looks to you. Some day, if I ever figure out PS, I hope to redo it correctly.

Thanks for taking a look. By pulling the color back a little, especially in the foreground (ie tone down the foreground). Glad you enjoyed it Chazz :)
