For inkjet printing in PSCS, the proof setup shows on screen a very close idea of what the final inkjet print will look like for a particular icc profile. Can be quite different from the straight monitor profile.
In PSE3, one can still print using a profile but am I right in thinking that you can only view the monitor profile on screen?
Best way to set this up in PSE3?

If you are properly colour managed then what you see on the screen should be pretty much what you see in print anyway. The Proof screen in CS is really intended for proofing CMYK seperations where the change of colour space will make changes due to the smaller colour gamut.

I disagree. You can see more colors in your display than you can print on paper. The paper you choose limits the range of colors, and the proof feature in CS allows you to restrict the display to those colors.
Having a colour managed monitor will help with this but does not mean that what you see on the screen will be possible to print.

Chris.bailey,
There is a definite change in appearance when I go to View - Proof Colours in PSCS - reflecting the limitations of the RGB-CMYK 'conversion' ?
Reason I mention this is that I have just read an excellent article on soft proofing http://www.itsdownloads.uidaho.edu/digital_imaging/download/scans/!Color_Profiles/ps6_sp.PDF which is the only article I have ever read with any detail on the setting up of the View - Proof Colours facility. I'm quite excited as it seems to work and has improved the accuracy of the screen to print setup.
A friend has PSE3 and he was curious how all this works (or doesn't) in that programme.
