I'm new to DSLR and have found a blue dot on my pictures. Is this dust? I'm using a Rebel xt and a 100-400 IS lens. The dot is above the end of the roadrunner's tail. The camera and lens are new, would appreciate any suggestions as to its cause.
Thanks

Looks like a dust bunny to me. Try using a blower to remove it and failing that you should clean your sensor. Try searching here for sensor cleaning, there are many threads on that.
Very nice shot, BTW.

Wow, that's amazing, I only changed lenses a couple of times.

Paul, it could have been there from new. Its nothing to worry about, completely normal (even from brand new unfortunately) but it doesn't look too bad from your picture. Easy to clone out in PS if the blower doesn't work and you don't feel ready to tackle cleaning the sensor just yet.
Is this the same Roadrunner that you posted yesterday? This is a great shot! I prefer it to the other one. Well done.

Yes it is, someone on that forum mentioned the dot. I thought perhaps it was some sort of finger print.

Ask the Roadrunner if his prints are on file with the police.
Yes, it looks like a classic sensor dust spot.
