I was driving in Montana and there were a number of these guys hovering about. They were cooperative enough to stay close once I stopped.

Both taken on 1DMKII with 300 f/2.8L IS.

The second one is amazing. As usual, Sheldon, your photos are at a quality level that is hard to achieve! Very good work!

I love the big birds, nice shots. I also like # 2 with his wings in soar mode. Again, nicely done.

Gorgeous. #2 - with the "fingertips" spread is incredible. Beautifully composed, especially with a moving animal.

What's the data on the shots? I'm desperately trying to learn. Thanks in advance!

Best-
Noni

Great shots, Sheldon. They're Osprey, so you must have been near the water?

PS: Ready to sell that lens yet? ;-)

The second one is amazing. If there is another contest next year, we might see a repeat winner.

Why, Sheldon, it appears you have taken your act on the road. These shots are definitely on a par with your GGOs...marvelous.

Great shot of an osprey that could easily be used for identification. I would send it into St. Martin's Press (Golden Series) or Houghton Mifflin (Peterson) who publish Field Guides.

Of the thousands of bird's I have photographed, I have found that Osprey are the most difficult to capture in flight with a perfect wing angle. Great Job!!!

Thanks Lazy. I stink at id'ing birds. Thanks for the correction.

ps - I think that I just might hang onto this lens for a little while longer.

I don't think they're not Ospreys, more likely Prarie Falcons. Great shots!!!!

Great work. Keep up the good work.

I would start submitting photographs for publications on bird identification.

Very nice shots as everyone else has said. One thing that I notice is that the sky is so blue compared to where I live in San Diego. The sky here seems to be a dull blue compared to that. Oh yeah, thats the smog!
