Looks like POTN is the only photo forum on the interweb then :-)

I did overhear someone talking about a Nik*n forum down the pub....

http://www.inspiring-photography.com

Just a question, isn't that Nikon stuff a Walmart brand?

www.thephotoforum.com
Seems very, very prone to having arguing in most threads.

www.mycanikon.com
Smaller with under 1,000 members. Fairly close knit and laid back for the most part.

www.dpchallenge.com
Slow activity in the forums fo the size of the site it seems. Mainly geared towards perpetually ongoing photography challenges.

www.dgrin.com
Friendly forum based on www.smugmug.com . Provides exceptional support with direct contact to Smugmug employees as well as a photography forum.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeroforum?id=82
Photography section of www.vwvortex.com . Good group of people with some talented photographers.

www.psmediapros.com
Philly Snaps forums. Photography forum for NE photographers. Small and slow moving, irrc.

Just a few off the top of my head.

Is this thread going to get deleted for advertising what might be rival forums? I know some moderators don't like you posting any links to other forums as they think it'll take away from the membership here.

www.cinema5D.com

for those interested in the cinema abilities of the 5D ;]

for those non-believers out there, ive seen a bunch around here. slumdog, night at the museum 2 and land of the lost are a few examples of recent features utilizing the camera for some (obviously not all) of their shots..

and apparently iron man 2 is using the 5D2 for b-roll footage, AS WELL AS testing a 24p update, to see how well it can cut between film and digital 24p..

+1 on MF Lenses. English-language forum, but member base is truly international.

Superbly knowledgeable member base, and tons of alternatives to be learned about in regards to the exorbitantly-priced modern lenses.

Essentially, if you don't mind turning the focusing ring for yourself, you'll save a huge wad of money by going with older lenses. It also doesn't hurt that there's some exceptional talent frequently found there, and most of them are readily willing to share their knowledge with newbies and upstarts.

For those interested in traditional film photography of nearly any type the Analog Photography Users Group is a good place to visit. I found them to be quite active and a pretty friendly group.

we started as a spin off of a car forum (NASIOC) because the photo threads there were getting too big (non car photo sharing and equipment). The owner of NASIOC didn't want to open the can of worms that would be giving something like photography a subforum so I started my own. Since then we've got 700+ members. It's a nice small informal forum where you'll get honest critiques, but also we're a bit more laid back.

A rather small niche of the photography industry specializing in low altitude aerial and elevated photography using telescoping poles, kites, and remote control aircraft, both airplane and helicopter. Full scale is also welcome. Very friendly atmosphere.
