There is a 50mm f1.0 L on Ebay right now (not mine). I figured I would give a heads up as several people here were interested in finding one.

Beware though....ZERO feedback seller..:(Everybody has to start out sometime. Besides, the seller is offering to accept payment through PayPal. Their dispute management process is pretty thorough and straight forward. I've only had to use it once though, so my case is isolated. I don't have the cash flow to buy the lens anyway; seems a little surperfluous - maybe good for bragging rights.

This is what the description says
Payment is through a bank wire - I will ship once funds are confirmed on my bank account
And why are the bidders ID's kept private, this seems like a scam to me.
I bet if you ask them, they want a Western Union Money transfer.

Yeah except the f/1.4 is actually a better lens. Same as the 28 f/2.8 is better than the vastly more expensive 28 f/1.8L, the compromises necessary to get f/1 lead to a lens that is actually pretty weak comapred to its closest colleagues.

Seconded. This lens is mostly desired by people who have never shot with it or seen full resolution photograph at f/1.0. I'd take the 50mm 1.4 over the 1.0 any time.

£700+ buys you bragging rights but that's about it. The 50mm f/1.0 is more valuable for it's novelty factor and rareness than it's actual optical abilities.
