OK We all know about Windows Vista and readyboost.

Simply put Ready boost allows you to use flash drives and
the extremely fast Access time they have, to cache small files
via Superfetch to speed up your PC, by reducing slow non-sequential drive
access. It works barely.

But I have 12 gigs of RAM. I NEVER use all my RAM. It turns out that
you can make a RAM disk and use it for READYBOOST!!! OMG!!

I am not even sure how to bench this...

I took four gigs of Ram and created a RAMDISK. With compression which has
zero noticeable overhead this gives me a 8 gig RamDISK. I can use 4 gigs for readyboost and 4 gigs for scratch disk? Woot.

Anybody else tried this?

Readyboost makes a noticalbe difference in my Q6600 with 4GB of ram.
It is only a 1GB USB stick though.

I imagine increasing its access speed by using RAM instead would increase its effectivness.
Combined with a 4GB ram disc for PS to use as scratch, I imagine you could get a noticable performance increase.

There is a benchmark thread stuck to the top of this forum, give it a go and post the results :)
