Somehow I didn't get good results with extension tubes - I guess I needed better light and a tripod (the above photo was done without tubes).
Any comments / suggestions welcome ! (yes, I do know about the little white thread that I didn't see when I took the shot - too late now...)

Awww you must have been really really quiet to take this shot and not wake him haha.... I wish you could have gotten in closer to pull more detail.

Looks like there's a white haze that makes the colors look uninteresting.

I'm pretty sure I saw it move. Yeah, no doubt. The hind leg twitched just a little.

Yes I know what you mean... it's a bugger when they fly away ???
I must say I am drawn to the unusual way you have tried to capture movement and life in this shot. I'm not sure it works for me but the important thing is if you like it?
A great first attempt. I look forward to seeing some more more of your pictures. Do you do portraiture?

Dead does nothing for me I'm afraid.
To get better results actually go outside and find some creatures that are alive. Much more interesting.

Thanks for kind words.
Yes I do portraits, but I don't like posting them... :)

So did I... kids found it in the basement and I decided to try and take a few pics - in about 10 minutes it started to show signs of life so I put it outside (most likely to be eaten...)

Thanks for constructive criticism ;)
Where is that haze most noticeable ?

Wow... a photographic resurrection. Excellent first attempt BTW. Things to think about / work on: shadows (confuse the viewer's eye, frustrate perceptions), DOF (stacking multiple images is the way to go for serious macro). You can find some good links to tutorials via the macro forum (see LordV / Brian's signature). Cheers, Tony
