Some time ago I downloaded the Adobe Camera RAW converter v2.4beta because it was the first version to support my 20D. No problems with the installation, but the beta version gives you a message every day to remind you to download the full version when available. When the full 2.4 became available I downloaded it and pasted it over the beta version file, but I still get the message every day (!!!)
Has anybody else had this problem ? What have I done wrong ?

Check that you're using the correct version of the plugin, and that the old version has been removed.

The directions advise you to rename the original file or move it out of the plug ins folder, not to paste over it. It is unlikely that the two files would have exactly the same name. Are both files now in your plug in folder?

I'll check it out tonight. I've actually done it twice already. I'll let you know exactly what I did.

If you still can't get it working right, read through a similar discussion in the Photoshop User Forum for a possible resolution:

You'll need to register, if you haven't already, to get into this forum. Good luck.

Yes, from that discussion it looks like there may be some quirk to the way this works. I believe I've done it correctly. I first renames the 'camera raw.8bi' to 'camera raw original.8bi' (3964KB) and copied in the beta version and renamed it 'camera raw.8bi' (4781KB). When I downloaded the update I renamed the beta version to 'camera raw 24beta.8bi', copied in the new version (4789KB) and named it 'camera raw.8bi'. The message still appears.
I don't believe that the PS pointer can follow the name change because it worked the first time (when I installed the beta). There must be some flag which remains set. The warning doesn't bother me of course, but I want to be sure I'm actually using the latest version. I'm not sure where to go from here. Should I reset the preferences (not sure how) ?

What if you moved the beta version to another folder outside of the Plug-Ins folder instead of just renaming it. Or just delete the beta plugin since you won't need it any more.
