I am a film student in Orlando Florida. I recently purchased a 5D Mark ii and I love it but there are of course many things that could be improved upon in video mode, I'm sure this is addressed in countless other angry threads.

So this is the master idea....

We love canon L-series glass and love to be able to do video with them like on the 5D but its not exactly ideal. What is needed is a pro-sumer SOLID-STATE camcorder (Like the Pnasonic HVX or Sony EX-3) that is compatible with all EOS lenses right out of the box with no restrictions or adapters needed!!!!

This would be the most popular camcorder on the market! Can you imagine buying a camcorder on the same Level as the HVX and EX-3 and not having to use a 35mm lens adapter? Even with a lens adapter like the Letus Ultimate its extremely unefficient to use lenses that do not have aperture rings out the outside of the lens.

Canon could create the camcorder, sell it for under $8,000 ($5,000 idealy) and dominate the market. Not to mention the HUGE increase in lens sales!!!

I feel like this is an untaped market and the first person to create this will start a new tred and will be wildy successful. The indstury is dieing for a product like this!

I really hope somone in a position to present this idea to a head at Canon will do so. I am loning for this product.

Sincerly,

-Stephen Marshall

How many people really have 8 grand to plunk down on a camcorder though? I can't imagine they'd fly off the shelves at that price. I mean, not everybody and his brother has a 1Ds III and they're only 7 grand now.

All my friends and I own pro-sumer cameras that cost from 5-$9,000. Many also with 35mm lens adapters that range from $2,000-$7,000 on top of the camera just to use EOS lenses on them. This would take away the need for the adapter. I would buy one and I'm sure everyone else I know would be extremely interested.

A $9,000 prosumer camera? Whatch'all got diamond studded Leicas blingin around your Beverly Hills necks? I have GOT to see that! I'd also like to see a $7000 EOS adapter. I got mine on eBay for 45 bucks.

We are hardly rich. And its not a typical consumer handycam that we own. Go to Letus.com and check the Letus ultimate adapter+rails+camera optimazation kits. Its around $7,000.

D'oh. I didn't realize this was the video section until you said handycam. I forgot there even was a video section.

I can see 9 grand going into that easily.
