I've just finished setting up a quick video, and I'm wondering what you guys are using for codecs when you export and what not. My main problem is that it wants to spend 17 hours (seriously) exporting my five minute long video. My computer really isn't that slow, so I'm wondering if I'm just doing all the wrong things to make it take that long. I'm planning on making a much longer video in the near future and I'm not looking forwards to exporting it for days on end.
I'm working with footage from a 5D Markii if that helps.

I've been doing some more searching and people are saying that time remapping makes a huge difference in export time, so I'm doing a test now to see if that was the problem. I'm hopeful that this fixes it, as I really don't want to go back to Vegas now that I've got the Adobe bug.

Dealing with HD Video isn't something to be done "lightly."
Professional edit suites using Final Cut Pro, AVID or even Premiere run totally clean, totally dedicated machines with gobs of ram and enoromous RAID arrays which usually consist of HDs spinning at 10K RPM...
HD Video is a nifty feature to be sure but IMO, Canon are doing people a great diservice if in marketing it, they make folks think that full-res HD is just like "playing" with footage from the old Standard Def Handycam.

Well, it turns out it was the time remapping that killed it. I think the video is my favorite feature of the new 5D. Without it, I would be pretty freaking bummed about that camera.
These days I'm more interested in the video aspect of it than the stills.

Are you actually working with the truncated 720p or the full up 1080p?

I'm working with the straight out of camera files for exporting. While I'm editing I use a resized version so it plays smoothly, then I swap in the original file for when I want to export.

Why is that? ???

Other than the video, it's really no different for me than the original 5D.
