Hi,
We have recently bought a Canon EOS 300D and are considering a backup. I was thinking of the 350D but someone suggested sticking to the exact same camera so that one software program would work for both cameras.
Can anyone tell me if the Canon software would work for both cameras.
Thanks,

Yes, they would if you used the latest version of the softwares.

You will receive upgraded software with the 350D that could be used with both cameras.
There is no copy of Elements included with the 350D though. So if you shoot raw, you will have to convert to tiff/jpeg first and then edit in Elements after.
As for the 350D being a back up; I'm sure you'll find that the 300D will soon end up being the back up camera. :)

I just picked up a 350D for a 20D backup (somewhat by mistake..), but I've heard that Adobe photoshop CS does not support importing RAW files from the 350D (It does support them from the 20D). I assume that Photoshop CS2 will, but at an upgrade price of $150. Now I have two completely different RAW workflows for two very similar cameras... it's the little things that they get you on. :) I was checking out Phase One's "Capture One" for my RAW workflow, but the price is quite high on that software as well, and it looks like I might need two different versions (one for 20D and one for 350D). Gotta love proprietary formats...;)

Thanks everyone. That answered my question. And as for Anteros's comment about the 300D becoming the backup - you're probably right.
cheers

Have you tried RawShooter Essentials? It will work on both cameras.
