I found a wren whilst out a week or so ago but it flew off just before I could focus on her, Then today whilst having my lunch in the garden one came and stood on one of the garden lights, again just before I could get focus, off it went. So that is going to be my challenge to try and get the little blighter. I believe she vists regularly as my wife says she has had glimpses, so i think this could be tricky.
If the weather is good tomorrow I hope to visit Chichester cathedral to see if I can get some shots of the Peregrine Falcons that nest there each year.

I was talking to a semi-pro bird photographer last year, and telling him how much I would like to get a good shot of a wren. He replied that it had taken him 25 years to get a pic that he knew he wouldn`t be able to improve upon. This was despite having a wren`s nest right outside his front door! Still, "hope springs eternal"... :)

I found a wren ... that is going to be my challenge to try and get the little blighter. Sometimes it's pure luck. I nailed a Carolina wren (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=7513958&postcount=1) in my yard before I even knew what it was. Pure luck.

Yep they are small and jumpy...a tough combination. I keep trying to get a great shot myself.

Hi Artyman,
So that is going to be my challenge to try and get the little blighter.
That's what makes me keep going out with my camera. Took me a long time to get a couple of decent Wren shots.
This years challenge is a decent Kingfisher shot and a decent Goldcrest shot.
Keep at it.

I found wrens to be very curious.
I found an area once where they were in abundance. I found I could stand at the foot of their bush and mimic their sound and they would flock to my feet abliet still under the cover of foliage. Make noise and they will come. A mirror hanging on a branch will attract males since they are territorial little things.

You have to find one willing to pose (http://www.picturelacrosse.com/birds/wrens08/house-wren-img_9136-051108.jpg).

I've got some of a Rock Wren before, not never an acceptable one of a Carolina Wren.

They do occasionally come out in the open in the UK artyman. I took these just a couple of weeks ago. Not that good but record shots none the less.

Wrens are the cutest little birds. I have two fighting for territory in my yard, and singing at the top of their lungs. Great fun to watch them catching insects in my lilac bush too. :)
