I had a 40 d with Aperture and it was great. I now have a Canon 50D and I have to use Aperture 2 with more stuff. I am struggling with editing pictures. I would say a majority of the time they look worse on my computer than on the camera. Can anyone help me with this because I am just about ready to get rid of it and go back to a 40D and Apaerture.. Thanks...

Try using DPP to convert the 50D RAW files before editing in other 3rd party software.
