Loscocco, nice pixtures. I heard that Mui Ne' is a beautiful place.
Did you take the 40d with you? I'll be visiting VN in a couple months and kind of worry and wonder if it is safe to bring my DSLR along. I am worry about accidentally run into crack head, you know what I mean :). TIA.

i traveled thru SE Asia for 2 months this winter with my 40D alone in some of the sketchiest areas of Cambodia, Burma, Thailand, Laos..etc and never had any problems
i was just SUPER careful of my surroundings all the time and not letting people see the camera ETC. Blending in at times.. dressing down and not flashing anything worth more than $1
but Vietnam and Mui Ne esp were totally safe and friendly in that manner. As with anywhere you just use common sense.

I find it sad and ignorant that people believe than people living in developing countries are less than honest..

I have been to some of the most remote areas of SE Asia with my cameras slung over my shoulders without any issues.. I have walked around cities like Vientiane, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh etc at night with a camera over my shoulder and not been hassled.. You have more chance having your gear stolen in NYC, LA, London or Sydney for the simple reason there is a market for stolen cameras..

Thanks!
It could be a bit tough to not letting people see the 40D + a walk around lens though.

I was only in Burma for 2 days and travle there is quite restirctive as well as photography... Enforced by AK-47s. BUt i would love to go back there and travel more.. I did not have enough time to go to Northern Burma which i heard great things about. Like thialand except with no one there. I went to a few temples and i was the only tourist in sight.

If in Myanmar (Burma) it's easy to cross the border into Northern Laos.. No travel restrictions and photography is allowed.. The area around Luang Namtha and Muang Sing is drop dead gorgeous.. The people are laidback and friendly and it's one of the most ethnically diverse regions in SE Asia..

Not too bad for a "Communist" country..

Thanks for the good pictures.

I spent a year in the Delta area of Vietnam forty years ago.
Looks like not much has changed except all the military stuff is gone.

I was in in Ben Tre, Kien Hoa Province. I think that province is called Ben Tre Province now. MACV Advisory Team 88.

Good luck.
