I'm ready to buy these two items soon. However, I really can't imagine a cord being $50, even more expensive than the quickflip.
What are your thoughts? Is there a 3rd party cord where I can save a few bucks?
How about the bracket? I need one for shooting nice flash photos, but as always, don't want to spend more than I have to.
Thoughts?

I think I heard that you will have to go with the Canon cord because of E TTL compatiblity. I am making my own bracket just cause it's fun to mess around.

there are no third party off camera hot shoe cord for canons that I know of. if you want, PM me I have a quick flip I don't use anymore and it is practically brand new. I'll sell it cheap (but shipping might be bad, just PM with what you want to pay to for it maybe you can save a few bucks on the frame to get the cord.

Paramount cords creates Cord2 cables. They aren't much cheaper though...I went with the Canon cables which come coiled. Believe Paramounts are straight cables.
I utilized them (Paramount) for hot shoe cables for triggering my flashes off of PocketWizards. They make quality cables.

In the UK Jessops sell compatible cables for half the price of the OCSC2. It's labelled TTL, however their tech section confirmed it'll work with ETTL. Testing confirmed it will work, however it's now resigned to spare as I have an OCSC2 as well.

I was quoting American prices since (I'm guessing) the majority of the board members are American. I was looking at the bhphotovideo website.
Could you tell me where I could find one for $85? If so, I wouldn't mind buying locally, should be around the same price.

Henry's lists the cord at $99.99 http://www.henrys.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PageDisplay?dest=frames.jsp¤cy=CAD&storeId=10001
Vistek is at $89.95

Aden Camera is $89.99

Downtown Camera doesn't have it listed on their site, but when I asked a salesman he said he thought it was about $85. None in stock, but "should be here in a week." That was last week. Give them a call.
I bought mine at Aden. I've dealt with them for a couple of years so I got a couple of bucks off the list price.
Good luck,
Jim
