XH-A1. Can't customize display output.

Greetings.
Having a hell of a time with tech support and its not in the manual: Iwant the display on the camera to show the image with data, timecode, frame rate, etc, and I want the playback on the mini dv or vhs I'm connected to to display only the image with date and time showing. In other words, I want to be able to customize the display output in a way that is different from the camera display. Two tech support staffers couldn't come to a conclusion and one said it wasn't possible. I refuse to believe that I can't imprint the stupid date and time on my playback.

It is possible as I just did it on ours.
You have to go to the menu while in VCR mode and change 2 settings.
1 is to enable TV Screen as a display source, this will mirror the info in the view finder and LCD screen on the TV output.
2 is to select Date/Time as a custom function.

it will show the date and time in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and I am not sure if you can change the position.

btw, I used the composite out on the side of the camera.

I also only had about 5 minutes to do this as we were already on our way out of the studio.
