Can anybody tell me why the link I have put in for my website on my signature will not work.

If you don't have a page called "index.htm", "index.html", "default.htm" or "default.html", you need to specify the page as part of the URL. So you might link to, say, http://www.shaneransom.fotopic.net/home.htm.

To create my link I just copied and pasted the url from my web site into my signature so I find it strange that it does not work.

Maybe I need to send an email to fotopic to see if it is possible to link to them in this way.

The link in your sig, although it says .net, actually points to a .com instead of .net

Change it to:
http://www.shaneransom.fotopic.net/
