I know this topic has been discussed before, but since I recently moved to a new domain I needed ideas on how to get the new address known.

Word of mouth is definitely on top of the list. I've been shooting racing for a while now and been in the racing cirquit even longer so plenty of people already know me.

The website itself. I still have my old domain (planning to keep it for a month or two more), so I use it to direct people to my new site.

Name of the domain. The old one wasn't very good or easy to remember, so that was the main reason for moving. New address suits me much better and lets people instantly know what the site is about.

Stickers. I had a handful of different sized stickers with the web address made (simple white cutout letters) and put them on lens hoods and flash. So next time when someone asks me trackside "who do you shoot for?" I can just point at the sticker and smile :)

I thought about embroidered shirts/jackets, but since I have to wear a bright green photo vest at races it would cover up any text. A hat might be a good idea, one for summer, one for winter.

Any other tips?

I'd keep the old domain for a few years yet, just 301 it if you want. Make sure to try and redirect all of your old links from other people too (might need to email them and ask that they change them)

Get listed in all the local directories for your area, get your new name in your signature for any forums you are on all helps in the promotion and getting backlinks to the new site.

Can you get the website embroidered on your vest? Or would that be against regulations?

Maybe get some fancy pants with the web address down the legs.

Business cards.

Break into the fashion industry with brand name clothing financed by your company! ;)

just print out fliers and pass them out like crazy at the event. Nobody will read a hat and go home and decide to check out the web address printed on it. Marketing for photography is pretty simple it just takes someone who will actually do it. Client's don't often make contact with a photographer the photographer has to make contact with them.

I found word of mouth works very well.

Try to make an reasonable agreement(free of cost) with few known drivers and glue your sticker to the cars ;)

ps. Your latest shots from Tallinn was excellent :D (esp. first shot of car nr.3 and first shot of Hiltunen Peugeot)

Thanks for the tips everyone :)

Unfortunately yes, can't do anything with it.

Try to make an reasonable agreement(free of cost) with few known drivers and glue your sticker to the cars ;)
Actually, that is something that would work quite nicely.

Thanks :D
