I took these from the gallery at the pro-am on Wednesday. I'm curious if you guys feel these are publication quality or not? If not I would love CC's so I can learn. If they are, is their a good way to go about getting them to publications? Sorry for the watermarks. Thanks.

Hey Speedy, I like them....what lens/s did you use ? The bokeh on #7 is pretty sweet !

You have some nice candid shots, one important thing to remember is to watch your back grounds, 4 would have been better if the golfer did not have the gallery rope behind his head and the same with Sergio having that green thing protruding ear to ear changing positions would probably have solved that. 1,2,3 and 8 don't do anything for me, 6 bg is just to busy, 7 is a nice moment of Tiger with a smile. Golf is a tough event to cover especially if you have big names at the event (more photographers covering) which means lots of the same shots. This year at Bay Hill there were like 20 Japanese photogs there just to cover a 17 year old. Keep practicing, be creative look for something different, and watch your back grounds. Good Luck

Thanks for the input. I fixed the sergio pic. It is tough from the gallery. I pretty much had to pic my spots a hole ahead of them and wait. If I tried to move to a better spot I couldn't get back up to the front. Lense was a 100-400L. I forgot this one.

This is a nice shot. The fix on Sergio makes it much better, but remember if you are looking to get published, removing things in PS is a big no no for editorial.

Honestly I would say no they are not publication worthy for most outlets - the last shot of Tiger on his follow through is the best of the bunch because of the clean background, the others are too busy and #2 has way to much motion blur. As for getting images to publications, you're too late - all the publications/wire services already send staffers to these events and now this is pretty much old news. Unless you're a staffer or have something not available on usual outlets there's not much you can do. Even the wires who work on spec still have a process you have to go through before submitting.

I'm actually shooting the Tournament right now, Getty has like 3 shooters and AP a couple, all of whom are excellent.

Sorry but those won't make the grade. Find cleaner backgrounds and watch your exposure. Look for some emotion and interesting composition.
