Hi all

I have just purchased an SX1 IS and I am having trouble with the HD video it produces.

The recorded video plays back OK on the camera and also on my TV, but I cannot capture it adequately on my PC - it produces a very jerky picture. I assume therefore that the problem may rest with my computer, so my question is: What sort of computer specs do I need to be looking at in order to adequately handle the HD video from this camera?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Robert

There's been alot of discussion RE: this at dpreview.com...
You need a better codec.

Don't use Quicktime to view the video on your computer. Unfortunately, QT only shows 24fps, while your video shows 30fps. That's why it looks jerky. Download the Winff codec and play it on Media Player. It's freeware at http://www.winff.org.

Hello Robert,

Congratulations with your SX1 IS. I'm planning to buy one myself in the near
future. May I please ask you 2 questions regarding this camera?

1) Does the camera comes with a remote control like the SX10?

2) Can you set the timer to take a picture every 2 minutes untill the card is
full or the batterie's are empty. 2 minutes is only an example.
Or has it only a standard selftimer build in and not a intervallometer?

Thank you in advance,

Salleke.

It has a remote release (my SX10 didn't and the Canon USA site doesn't have one in "What's in the box" for it.), but not an intervalometer. You can set a custom delay, and number of shots, but there's no repeat.

Jon,

Thanks for the info. Do you know a Canon Compact Camera
that have a build in intervallometer?

Thanks,

Salleke.

Not offhand. I think the CHDK hack makes it available in some, but I haven't played with that. I use the TC60-N3 on one of my DSLRs for that.
