Well, with some of my stuff here (vivitars and accessories) and some on it's way (triggers), I'm realising that I don't really know where to even start with learning how to use all the stuff I have.

Do any of you happen to know of any books on using flash in the sort of Strobist style? I've only ever used the old pop-up on top of the camera and even that I try to avoid so this is all new.

I could almost do with a step-by-step guide in a way.

I do already have the 'Master Lighting Guide' by C. Grey which looks like it will be really useful but I think I am missing the step before that where you actually understand the flash!

Thanks for reading. :o

The forum itself is already a fantastic resource. Check out the stickies! I'm not very experienced with flashes myself yet but it is key to experiment with the light sources at your disposable.

I definately want to do lots of experimenting. You're right about that.

I guess I just want to understand more about what I am doing, sort of help out the learning curve, as well as making sure I use them most effectively.

I'll check out the stickies too.

I'm just starting to dive into off-camera flash myself and the strobist site has been an indispensable resource. Another good resource with links to articles relating to flash is pixsylated.com

I'm reading Hot Shoe Diaries (http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Shoe-Diaries-Flashes-Voices/dp/0321580141/) by Joe McNally right now, and I'm loving it.
