I hadn't forgotten about this one but it has been an excruciating busy week :(
This was taken tonight, the Mantis was sitting on a Rose that my daughter had given my wife for Mothers Day.
Taken with 350D
EF300 2.8 with 1.4TC so 420mm
Three stacked extension tubes (total of 65mm)
Two off camera flashes (45 degrees either side of camera) triggered with Skyports

Compression doesn't help the background sorry:rolleyes:

I'll throw up my submission. This Deerfly was kind enough to pose for me last night.

Looks like the boy had a "nature call" in the bushes when the lady and the dog walked by.
I was traveling for a soccer tournament, and tried to get a shot for the challenge. I thought this was kind of funny.

I'd have to give mine to SSracer or justAL. It's tough to choose between the two. I like the perspective of justAL's but I like the lighting and sharpness on SSracer's. Tough choice, so I choose both.

I am going to go with justal on this one, I just like the shot, I gotta say though, if it was just the horse, maybe on it's hinds it would be epic, but I like the look of it anyway...
Again great shots to all this week :D

some great shots there, the deerfly, the cat, the mantis, I like JustAl's horse and rider too, the boy in the bushes is amusing but I like preeven's dragon, so I will go way out on a limb against the current tide, and vote Preveen.

ssracer for me on this one, the poise (read: pose) of the cat & the sharpness really give it the edge. Well done!

Good call, I forgot about this as I've been laying low from, of all things, an allergic reaction to goat cheese. Since I won the last one and started this one, I vote for ssracer to win/start the new one! Do I have any 2nd's?
ssracer
18th of May 2009 (Mon), 12:13
Goat cheese?...blah....I think I would have a gag reflex reaction to that....lol.
Hope you get better.

18th of May 2009 (Mon), 12:47
haha. I probably would have shied away myself if I knew it was in the food. At least I know never to eat goat cheese/milk again. Its a pretty rare condition to be intolerant of the goat versions without being intolerant of the cow versions.
Thanks for the well wishes!

Since I have been conceded the win, here is my idea for the next challenge. Since the weather is finally warming up (for most of us at least), lets go with
"Something Cold"
Use your imagination and have fun with it!

ohhh that DOES sound fun, plus I've got an idea I've wanted to try ever since I've gotten better macro capabilities! Post the new challenge and we'll get right on it.
Also congrats!
