View Full Version : Messenger bag?

I have a couple of bags and they are all good for some tasks. I have a LowePro medium sized bag and a Tamrac Top loader. The problem I have is that there are some locations (heavy crowds, places where footing is not that sure etc) where I would like to have a more secure method of carrying a camera.

I ordered a Tamrac Expedition and I am sure that will fit most bills, but what I would really like to find is a messenger style bag that will fit the basic camera and a couple of small accessories. The wide, comfortable strap would be about perfect for those times when you need a smaller, secure bag.

Anyone make one like that?

I've said this before, but no one seemed very interested in it, but I try again. I have a Eagle Creek bag that doesn't really look like a camera bag-which I like-and it fits a camera with 24-70, or 17-40 and an 85 or 50, plus a few places for accessories. It has a sholder strap and a tuck away waste belt. cost about 50 bucks.

Got pics? Where did you get it?

No pics, but try Eagle Creek website.I don't even know the model name anymore, but I think it's the only padded small travel bag they make. If you can't find the website, I could take some pics, I guess, let me know.

I don't see it on the website any more, they must have discontinued it. I think the padded media bag took it's place. Most highend sporting good stores carry them. Maybe you could still find one in a store. It's all black and the outside pocket has a flap that is buckeled down with straps that go all the way under it, so you can attach a small tripod on the bottom.

Ever go see a movie that everyone else just raves about and think to yourself, "So what?" That's how I feel about the Crumpler bags. They seem very popular but I just don't care for them.

It didn't occur to me that folks may not have the same idea of what a messenger bag should look like! Considering the international membership, I should have known better.

After searching around, I find that I had the wrong word in mind for the bag I want. Evidently, it is called a SLING bag (though I usually see them on bicycle messengers!) and examples can be seen here:

Sorry about the confusion!

I had seen these awhile ago, but decided on a Tamrac Cyber.

I don't know much about them other than the prices seemed competitive.

i actually never saw anyone with crumpler before i wanted one. i came across them while on a visit to icp (international center of photography), took a look inside and noticed how sturdy they were and esp loved the lively colors and theme they place on them.
but have you seen "napoleon dynamite". very funny movie. :D

AHA! I was hoping someone made one! Thanks for the link. Now that I know they exist, and know the proper name, I will probably be able to find a few choices to look through. The one you linked to looks pretty darn good... :D

I have the Lowepro LX 160. It's nice and comfy and the strap goes over one shoulder. It's on clearance for $10 at geeks.com!
