Im not sure where to post this question so Im just going to hope this is OK here.....
Im trying to obtain copies of my old school photos. The studio that took the pictures at the time was called "DELMAR".... or possibly "DEL MAR". This dates back to 1973 in Virginia Beach, VA.
I called the school I attended and they didnt have them and they now use a different company to do their photo's called Life Touch.
I searched the internet for the old company but cant find anything.
DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT DELMAR??? If they have a new name now?? If theyre out of business??
Better yet..... does anyone know how I can obtain duplicate old school photo's dating back to 1973???
Any help would be greatly appreciated!~!

I would wonder if the studio would keep negatives going back that far. Storage is expensive.

did a simple google search for del mar studios virginia.it looks like they are now owned by herff jones who bought up a bunch of small local studios all over the country.
You may be able to contact them to see if that is the definite case.

Good Luck and let us know if you can get the pics. I seriously doubt that they still exist anywhere.

The public library should have copies of all the yearbooks.

most likely the negs went to a processing house that kept them on file as long as del mar was a customer. If either went out of business, they might have been tossed. You might have to know who did the school, who they worked for (del mar?), and who they contracted the processing to (del mar?).

Facebook any names you can remember and see if they have class photos or yearbooks (if it applies)

Wouldn't your parents have copies? .. anyway, if not, and if you can't find the studio, perhaps some of your school friends might have some. You can usually track some of them down on classmates.com . .. or other alumni sites.

Unfortunately, i highly doubt that the studio kept the negatives that long. You would be surprised how quickly those negatives stack up...if a studio is doing school photo's, T&I's, Weddings, Sr. pictures, etc etc...i would imagine that 10 years would be at the upper end of how long they would let them sit in their basement. And that would have to be a very big building, or a very slow business.
The guy i worked for as a kid kept neg's for 5 years...nearly half the basement was dedicated to this storage.
