A friend has asked me to photograph his store, which has just finished doing up. I have told him that there will be a cost, one of doing the work and one depending on what photos he decides to keep.

The question is, how much do I charge? he is after a shot of the front and a couple from the inside. It wont be a large amount of work as the shop is only small.

Any ideas?

Like so many other situation along the "What do I charge" theme I think price depends on the intended use. Is your friend planning on framing the shots and hanging them? Is he going to use them in advertising? Are they just for his own photo album to commorate the rennovation?

All of these things play into the fee.

Personally, if my friend asked me to do that I would charge him for the prints, buy me a chinese lunch and if he uses them in advertising slap some "Photography by ..." in the ad. And of course he has to recommend me. But I am way too nice to my friends.

at use will on the web site and only take about 2-3 photos, I had quote about $50 for the shoot and $25 for any photos taken.
