I really do like this shot, of all the ones I snapped in Berlin.

I was trying to capture a part of the wall, with the DOF kind of implying some distance. i.e. looks like a long wall, which it was. Does it work?

What do you think? Good AND bad comments please. :)

I really like the idea behind this shot and the way you have composed it does give the impression the wall is really long.

I would have liked to see just a bit more of the wall in focus. I think it would look more interesting and still keep the perseption of length you were going for, maybe even add to it.

the dof is too short to show how long the wall really is. if you want to focus on that particular piece of the wall, i'd also try taking a more vertical shot (turn the camera 90 degrees) with that shallow dof.

Greetings,
The DOF is too shallow. If you are trying to convey the message of it is a long wall, the vertical reinforced steel bars cause my eyes to look up and down instead of further down the picture. So it is confusing. Go out and shoot some more and you will be rewarded soon.

I like it... DOF could be bigger - but not by much. I think the object here is the broken concrete and bars - not necessarily the lenght of the wall. We still get the message that this is but a small part of a much larger object - but we don't need to see the whole wall in detail to know it is there... it might actually become to busy.

Nice composition, but I agree a smaller aparature would make it a bit better. It just falls out of focus a tad bit to quick.

The shot is very good. And the message is pretty clear to some people ! ;)

Thanks very much for the comments.

Yeah, that is another important factor, the demise and the ultimate condition.

Thanks all.

Do you have any more shot of the wall I would like to see them. How do you like the little Rebel did you use the 55-200 lens for this shot?

Hi David,

Yeah I used the 55-200 lens although it is too soft for me. The 300D is alright (had it for just over 1.5 years) and although I am loath to apply the firmware hack, I want to sell it as soon as and get myself the 20D.

I do have a few images from Berlin, which I am putting on website when it is ready.
