Seagull "a la Jonathan Livingstone"
The other one is just a studio playing around with grain and BW
Now, hit me hard, that's what I need.

I miss grain... you could do some really cool stuff with it. It was also a pain too. I kind of want to say the images would pop a little better if they were sharper - or just slightly more contrast. The images look like they are trying to portray evenings edge... just a little sharper.... that all.... thanks for sharing.

I find it to be a pain in these photos. I don't find them 'cool stuff'. Not to say I'm any kind of an art critic, I just don't care for this much grain/noise in this type of image. The seagull isn't a gritty, down and dirty photo subject unless it is lying like a pigeon in a trash pile. The second photo is lost on me completely. If shooting film I would have been upset that I wasted two frames. Shootiing digital allows one to experment like you have. I can't find anything in focus or to focus on in either photo.

Good pics, though grain from B/W film is still 100 times better

well, that's true about bw film but i like what you did here and the grain gives it that extra special touch. what bothers me is the text on the image though the pictures are BEAUTIFUL.

Well actually I am still experimenting with the noise filter in PSCS, but I always loved grain :) And yes, as far as I can see today, the graininess attainable in PSCS is not the same as real film. But I'll probably get it better, sooner or later :D As per the writing, yes it could have been smaller - I do have the original raw files, so that won't be a problem anyway.
