Is it just me or does it happen to others that the forum almost grinds to a halt every morning between ten and twelve?

Happens to me for about 2-3 minutes around 9:30pm ;)
It happens on most forums at one time of the day or another, or at least it happens on well maintianed forums as things happen server side that slow things down for a minute or two.

Here in the UK, I'm getting about 20-30 minutes of slow-down and lack of response starting at exactly 1030BST.
It just takes patience to work through it.

Must be the English weather, I get at most about 4 minutes worth :)

That's exactly when I get it. Sometimes though, it's a little before 10.30 and a little after, but it's still usable.
Cheers Pete, glad it's not just me :D

I've noticed it as well around that time.

I'd be willing to bet it's a backup process running. 6 AM EST is a pretty standard time to do a nightly backup. :)

That's a relief. When I looked at the topic, I feared there would be pics.in here! :)

Same for me. I just go elsewhere for a bit.

6AM is not night time... ;)
We do 'nightly' backups between 01:00 and 04:00
Mind you it'll be night time somewhere in the world :-)

Nope it's not night time, it's early morning, but that's pretty much a standard time to do backups for forums where a good portion of your users are awake until around 5 AM EST (gotta include PST, people stay up until 2) :)
I personally do backups at 3 AM EST on my servers, but none of them are forums or have people on them much at that time. :)
