hey all,
Cleaned my dirty sensor today for the first time! It was covered in dust and spots.
It was sooooo easy! I did it twice with two different pads (Pec pads and eclipse liquid) and it came out perfect!
I was sweating bullets, but it was fast and much easier thatn I thought. I picked up this set here:
http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning
and was very impressed with this fellows level of assistance. If you have not done it yet, give it a try!

I did too last weekend. I ordered a rocket blower and a speck grabber and haven't even opened the speck grabber yet. The rocket blower is awesome! I thought the spots that were showing up were liquid but just blew off. I'd totally recommend one of these for all DSLR owners.

Planning to clean it shortly (the rocket blower way first). So can you give us some hints or tips. I'm kind of nervous to do it.

From everything I have read, the blowers are useless...but Paul O had good luck by the look of it. I guess it depends on what kind of dust you have. I had condensation marks and I blower was not going to do anything to those. Apparently the longer yo ulet it go the harder the marks are to come off, that makes sense I guess.
I followed the directions to the letter (there are allot of dos and don'ts) too many to list here.... and it worked perfectly as promised.
If you have never cleaned ur sensor, I suggest you shoot a blue sky or white sky and look at shot in PS and man, you can see everything. I know a guy with a 10D who have never even heard of cleaning his and I bet its filthly.
I was very nervious, but it was soooo easy and fast! I was done in 6 sec!!
Just do it! (Read the tutorial however at the site I listed in first post.[U]
Cheers

I was didn't feel easy about cleaning the sensor either when it became absolutely neccessary a few days ago. It was either that or sending my camera off to England.
Brushing wasn't good enough and left streaks which were not visible in test shots.
Using the Eclipse fluid & pec pads was easier than expected. To get a feel about pressure etc. I practised on my glasses, mobile phone and other things first.

Just to add my two pennies worth
I used digipads and I recommend not doing so. They removed the dust fine but left lint all over the sensor. In the end I used 6 before It was OK (even then it left one small piece of lint)
In future I'll go with the more expensive pec pads.
You'd have to work hard to damage the sensor using the proper tools.

I've used the blower many times to clean the sensor and it has always done the job perfectly. Switch to cleaning mode, a couple of blasts of air and its done. Easy :D
